    Fault phenomenon: Several computers (PCs) of the author's unit are newly installed not long ago, the display is a 17-inch Philips CRT monitor, and the chassis is the popular ATX power supply case. Recently, these monitors have exhibited varying degrees of color casts at the same time.

    Fault analysis and treatment: Since the display is still new, it cannot be the cause of the aging of the picture tube. Try to turn off one of the computers (PC) completely (the so-called complete shutdown refers to unplugging the power plug of the host and the monitor), plug in the power plug and turn on again after ten minutes, open the monitor when you hear a slight "bang", according to experience, the author knows that the degaussing circuit works normally, after entering the system, then use a notepad to open a blank file and maximize (mainly to make the whole screen white, to observe the color cast), I found that the display returned to normal, not color cast.

    It seems that the display is good, so why is there a color cast? Because the display supports green energy-saving functions, and it is more troublesome to switch on and off the display (the switch of the display is behind it), everyone usually only turns off the host (using win98 automatic shutdown mode) and does not turn off the display. The display is not degaussed from the energy-saving state to the working state (because the degaussing resistor is still in the hot state when the energy-saving state is in the energy-saving state), so the degaussing circuit of the display has not been able to degauss the display for a long time, so that the display screen has not been demagnetized for a long time and causes color casting.

    In addition, there are large medical equipment near the unit computer room, which may generate a strong magnetic field, resulting in the display color cast. As a reminder, if possible, you should turn off the power switch on your monitor at the same time after shutting down the computer every day.

    Use the function buttons on the upper panel of the monitor to find the item in the menu that indicates the horseshoe magnet, press it once, degauss, and repeat several times until it disappears.

    Note that after pressing once, the monitor will instantly go black and shake, which is normal, and then on time, it will take more than a minute to work.

    If there are areas of the display that have "spots," a darkened image, or a lighter color, you have a magnetization problem with the display. If the symptoms of magnetization of the CRT are relatively mild, the display will have traces similar to dust, and if the magnetization is severe, a certain area of the display will appear colorful "spots". If there are localized areas of light color on the monitor, this may be a sign that the CRT enclosure is magnetized.

    The easiest way to detect if your display is magnetized is to use Word software, the default white background in Word makes it easy to spot subtle changes in the color of the screen, which can be caused by the contact between the monitor signal cable or the graphics card and the motherboard slot, or it can be the result of being magnetized. You can try to gently move the monitor signal cable and plug and unplug the graphics card when the power is off to judge. If there is no change, it must be that the picture tube is magnetized.

    Most of the magnetization of the display is due to the magnetization of the picture tube by the equipment around the display that generates magnetic fields, such as computer speakers, microphones, stereos, etc. Under normal circumstances, the special speakers of the computer are anti-magnetic, it will not magnetize the display, but inferior speakers may have magnetic leakage. It is common for the side or rear of some speakers to have some magnetization on the display.

    If you notice that the monitor may be magnetized, the easiest way to do this is to move everything around the monitor away from the 20 cm area except for the case, keyboard, mouse, and anything that may be magnetic.

    The method of eliminating the magnetization of the CRT is not too complicated, and it can be solved by the degaussing function of the machine itself for displays with a relatively light degree of magnetization. If the display is more severely magnetized, you need to use a special tool degaussing rod to solve it. The degaussing rod is the application of the principle of magnetic induction, through the geometric center of the alternating current ** circle in the coil to generate an alternating magnetic field, the cathode of the display is demagnetized, so as to achieve the purpose of degaussing.

    When using, hold the degaussing rod in front of the monitor screen, take the center of the screen as the center of the circle, make a circular motion with a radius gradually enlarged, at the end, place the degaussing rod in the center of the screen, and make it at an angle of 90 degrees with the surface of the screen, keep it vertically and slowly retreat to 1m away from the display, then turn off the power and turn on again. Take a closer look at the degaussing effect. If the effect is not good, it can be repeated until the abnormality caused by magnetization of the display is completely eliminated.

    Generally speaking, the magnetization of the display has a lot to do with the usual maintenance, especially the inferior speakers on the market are the most harmful to it, and special attention should be paid to keeping the display away from magnetic objects as much as possible when placing it. ;

Nowadays, many display manufacturers have added the degaussing function, which is generally available on displays. Therefore, after performing degaussing, the display screen will shake violently, accompanied by a loud current sound, and after about a few seconds, the shaking and current sound will stop at the same time, and the degaussing will be completed. The degaussing function of the display can have a good effect on the general occasional magnetization, and it is also more convenient to use, but it has little effect on the deep magnetization caused by strong magnetic field interference. >>>More
