1. Chronic local inflammation such as intraoral tonsillitis, dental caries, periodontitis, seborrheic dermatitis, otitis media, etc., can cause lymphadenopathy under the mandib, occipital region, and behind the ear. 2 After tuberculous inflammation is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, children may also have swollen lymph nodes and pain in the neck, behind the ears and under the jaw, accompanied by low-grade fever, night sweats, weight loss and other manifestations. 3 Infectious diseases and systemic infections such as measles, chickenpox, infectious mononucleosis, systemic chronic infection and leukemia, in which enlarged lymph nodes can be felt in various superficial parts of the body.

Three-and-a-half-year-olds have bumps in their necks that slide to the touch, and these small bumps are usually lymph nodes. (1) Because lymph tissues, especially lymph nodes, develop rapidly within 1 year of age, healthy children may feel lymph nodes in superficial parts of the body, such as behind the ears, neck, submandib, armpits, and the root of the thighs (i.e., groin). (2) The normal lymph nodes in these parts are generally not more than the size of soybeans, and they are many single, soft in texture, can slide under the skin, and do not stick together with the surrounding tissues.

However, lymph nodes should not be palpated under the chin, supraclavicular fossa, and elbows.

What is the reason why a child has a pimple on his neck and slides?

The pimple on the child's neck will slide mostly into swollen lymph nodes, and it may also be a lesion of other neck organs.

The most common neck pimple is lymph nodes, which need to be comprehensively judged based on the size of the child's lymph nodes, whether there is tenderness, and the extent of the child's general condition. The most common is caused by the inflammation of the child's cold, at which time the swollen lymph nodes are reactive lymphadenitis, which will subside with the cold.

A pimple on the neck can also be seen in an enlarged thyroid gland or thyroid nodule, and imaging tests such as ultrasound can be used to help determine the location, nature, and size of the pimple.

Identifying an enlarged lymph node as a lymphoma requires pathological examination in conjunction with other manifestations such as the child's symptoms.

Other common causes may be caused by inflammatory diseases of the head, neck and face, such as otitis media, mastoiditis, dental caries, tonsillitis, and upper respiratory tract infections, all of which can cause lymph node reactive hyperplasia.
