Imprint learning is a learning style in the early postnatal period of an animal, which has a specific sensitive period. If the newly hatched creature does not see its mother, it will follow the first big target it sees. For example, if there is no female swan, the newly hatched swan will follow people or other action targets.

The famous Austrian biologist Konrad Lorenz conducted an unusual experiment on grey-legged geese (or ducklings). He hatched the eggs laid by the grey-legged goose in two groups. The first group is hatched by the mother goose, and the first live animals that hatch are the ones they see are their mothers, so they follow wherever the mother goes.

The second group of eggs is placed in an artificial incubator, and the geese are born so that they do not see their mothers, but let them see Lorenz herself first. So wherever Lorenz went, the gosling followed, and the gosling took Lorenz as his "mother". Lawrenz then put the two flocks of goslings together and held them under a box for the mother goose to watch from a short distance.

When Lorenz lifted the box, the frightened goslings ran in two directions: the ones that remember the mother ran towards the mother goose, and the ones that remembered Lorenz ran towards Lorenz. According to experiments, there are many kinds of animals that can produce imprint behavior, and most birds, guinea pigs, sheep, deer, goats, buffalo, insects and a variety of fish can produce imprint behavior.

Imprint learning is evolutionarily significant. Chicks follow the mother bird and can be effectively protected and nurtured by the mother bird. Many mammals establish parent-child bonds through imprint-based learning, so that the mother animal does not misidentify her offspring, which is conducive to the transmission of her own genes and the preservation of the gene pool of the species.

Two Little Ducklings] Two Little Ducklings Text:

Two Little Ducklings Two Little Ducklings Longyan, Fujian Province Yongding Mining Center Primary School Three (1) Liao Hengqiang My mother Xiang bought two ducklings, they are very cute, two ducklings. Every day they would run into the grass and sometimes fight with each other, and when I came to them, one of the ducks would come up to my feet and quack, as if to say to the master, help me to beat it, and the other duck also barked, as if to say, "Don't listen to it, help me hit it."

Sometimes they run to my feet, sometimes they run to the grass to "fight", they are so cute. Their mouths are golden, their eyes are round, and their feathers are as shiny as the fur of a golden monkey. I remember one day, I brought a basin full of water, and then caught two ducklings into the basin and let them learn to swim.

It's strange that they swim so well despite being so small. One duck kept rocking its feet, and the other duck swam in the water like a boat—with your hands and feet. Then they jumped out of the basin and ran after my dad and followed him, and my dad noticed that the two ducks were following him, so he grabbed them and handed them to me before he walked away.

Later, I put the duck on the ground and wanted it to play freely, so I went to my classmate Lu Chenguang's house to play. I really didn't expect that when I walked to Lu Chenguang's house, two ducklings also followed. Lu Chenguang also liked them when he saw them, and they ran to Lu Chenguang's book to play.

Later, my mother took them to my grandmother's house, and I missed the two ducks. A week later, when I went to my grandmother's house, I found that the two ducks had grown a lot, and they were like leaders followed by ten smaller ducks (my mother later bought ten more ducklings for my grandmother, so that there were 12 ducklings in total). The two ducks seemed to recognize me, and they ran up to me and walked around, so cute.

Instructor: Teacher Zhang's Brief Comment: The language is smooth and fluent, the ideas are wonderful, and it shows the childlike fun of primary school students.
