When she couldn't make ends meet, she worked part-time to engrave wax French handouts for the school under the care of her father's friends, and subsidized some living expenses every month.

    In the spring of 1932, she joined the anti-imperialist alliance led by the party, and in the summer of the same year, she joined the Communist Party of China and participated in the party's underground revolutionary work.
