Use chapters in Word to set page numbers.
In Word, setting page numbers can be solved by clicking the "Insert Page Number" icon in "Insert Page Number" or in "View Header and Footer". If you want to set the page numbers according to the chapters, i.e. the first chapter has three pages, and the page numbers are "1-1, 1-2, 1-3", and the second chapter has four pages, and the page numbers are "2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4", ......The easiest way to fix this is to put each chapter in a separate file, then select the header or footer in View Header & Footer, type "1-" or "2-" and click the "Insert Page Number" icon. What if you have many chapters in a single file and you want to be able to automatically and continuously change page numbers according to the chapters?
The following author will introduce his own solution to the problem.
Let's give you a lesson: First insert a "section break" at the beginning of the article, that is, select "Insert separator", select "Continuous" in the "Section Break", and then insert a "section break" at the beginning of each chapter where the page number needs to be changed, and select "Next Page".
Then select "View Header & Footer", enter "1-" at the header or footer in "Section 1" and click the "Insert Page Number" icon, then click on the "Show Next" icon, "Section 2" should be based on the default settings of the machine, i.e. do not need to change. Since you need to change the page number according to the chapter, you need to set the page number from the next page, so in the first chapter there are two sections (section 1 and section 2) that need to be set, and "section 1" is set and "section 2" is no longer required. Although we only see two sections in the first chapter, after the setting is completed, the machine will automatically arrange it according to the previous settings in the print preview or printing, and the first chapter has ten pages, which are displayed or printed out in the order of "1-1, 1-2,......Next, you should select "Section 3" (click the "Show Next" icon) to set it up, and each section starting with "Section 3" corresponds to a chapter, "Section 3" corresponds to Chapter 2, "Section 4" corresponds to Chapter 3, and so on.
Therefore, when setting "Section 3", you should turn off the display of the "Same as the previous section" icon, by clicking on the icon, then clicking on the "Page Number Format" icon, changing the starting page number to "1", and finally entering "2-" in the header or footer and clicking the "Insert Page Number" icon. "Section 4", "Section 5" and so on are all carried out in the above way, and the most important point is to be sure to turn off the icon that is the same as the previous section. After all the settings are completed, close the "Header and Footer" box, and view it with "Print Preview" to see the predetermined effect.
Don't forget to give points. Hehe.
