Characteristics of the Chengdu Universiade
The Chengdu Universiade is the third time that Chinese mainland has hosted the Universiade after the 2001 Beijing Universiade and the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade, and the Universiade was originally scheduled to be held in August this year. The event has a total of 18 competitions such as archery, basketball, volleyball, etc., and 49 competition training venues, including 13 new venues and 36 renovated venues.
The theme of the Universiade is characterized by environmental protection, and the construction is based on the principles of green, thrift and necessity, and the Chengdu Universiade has set up a total of 49 competition and training venues, distributed in 15 districts of Chengdu, including 13 new venues, as well as 36 renovation and upgrading venues such as Sichuan Provincial Gymnasium and West China Campus Gymnasium of Sichuan University. All venues will be completed by the end of April 2021.
