What to put multiple hard drives

It can be installed directly in your case, but the case can generally be installed with 4-5 hard disks, if the amount of storage is large, it is best to buy a large hard disk, and now 1T hard disk is not expensive.

I don't know how many hard drives you have, the general motherboard can be connected to 5-6 hard disks, you can buy an external hard disk enclosure, which can expand multiple hard disks.

1. Convenient backup. In case one hard drive fails, it is usually impossible for the other hard drive to fail at the same time, so it is a backup of important data.

2. Expand the capacity, because the capacity of a single hard disk is limited, if the maximum of a single hard disk is 2T, but it is not enough, you must buy two hard disks.

Disadvantages: 1. The power consumption has increased, and it is easy to be unstable. If there is a bad power quality, dual hard disks, the power consumption increases, which may lead to instability. The hard disk works in an unstable power supply environment for a long time, which is prone to bad sectors and damage.

2. The fever is increased and it is easy to crash. Dual hard disk cluster heat is larger than that of a single hard disk. The mechanical hard permeability blue disc is generally more than 40 degrees. If the dual hard disks are placed close together, the heat dissipation is not good, and it is easy to crash due to too much heating. In the long run, it also shortens the hard disk.

A computer uses two hard disks, and here's how to do it:

1. Find the extra hard disk inside the case**. Generally speaking, laptops are compact, and if they are not designed to fit two hard drives, they can only be fitted with a second hard drive through the optical drive bay. Desktop computer cases mostly have two or more hard drive bays, unless they are mini types.

As shown in the figure below, there are two hard disk bays and two optical drive bays, which can theoretically install two optical drives and two hard disks or four hard disks.

2. Install the second hard drive. If there is a spare hard drive bay, you can screw the second hard disk to the hard disk shelf, and connect the power cable on the host power supply to the hard disk power connector, and connect the data cable to the data interface on the motherboard and the hard disk respectively.

3. Set up the master and slave disks. If it is a parallel port HDD, you need to use the data cable interface and jumper to distinguish between the primary and secondary disks. The master and slave disks of serial port hard disks can only be distinguished by the data cable interfaces marked with SATA1 and SATA2.

Note: When adding hardware, you also need to consider whether the power supply can be satisfied. Generally speaking, the power of common mechanical hard disks is 12-14W, and adding a new hard disk will not have a great impact on the overall power of the computer host, unless it is a well-budgeted power supply configured by some brands of computers may be overloaded.

Now the hard disk interface on the new motherboard is SATA serial port, buy a hard disk directly and install it, plug in the data cable and power cable, the computer will automatically recognize it, and then you can use it after the partition is formatted.

Theoretically, your 2 computers should be very new, both are win7 or above systems, the motherboard interface adopts AHCI mode (supports SATA hard disk hot swap), and there is a hard disk plug interface on the chassis, so as to achieve your ideal. Actually, I'm a lonely person, and I've never seen anyone actually use it. At present, it seems that it is more reliable to use a mobile hard disk or U disk to move data.

If the hard disk cable of your two computers is the same, then you can put the hard disk outside, and you can use the hard disk on that computer when you use it, provided that the interface of your hard disk is not easy to use on both computers!
