1. Alder alder

Alder is a common wood that is very lightweight. Its timbre is very clean and covered, the middle section is full and warm, the treble is smooth and auspicious, and the grains are clear, it is not like the thickness of mahogany, the color of alder is tan, and there are not many obvious lines. Alder is not suitable for transparent exterior treatments.

2. Ash ash

Ash is usually divided into two types: northern (hard) and southern (soft). Ash has a very good hardness, a bright timbre and a good sustain effect.

Swamp ash (also known as soft ash) is softer and has a warmer, rounder tone than hard ash. Both of these different woods have a more pronounced grain, which requires a lot of lacquer to seal them.

3. Maple maple

The maple has a light and bright tone, good sustain and tight bass, with a unique texture and moderate weight; Plus, it's very durable. It is almost as hard as hardwood and is not easy to deform, but it is easier to handle. However, there is no pure maple body on the market, the reason is that the timbre will be too bright and the high frequency is too sharp, so it is generally used to adjust the high frequency with other wood.

4. Mahogany

Mahogany is very similar in weight and density to maple, while mahogany has a more rounded and warm tone. Mahogany has a very good sustain effect, but it is not suitable for transparent lacquer. He also often uses mahogany to enhance the resonance of the vocal segment.

5. Rosewood

Rosewood is one of the heaviest woods, with Strat bodies weighing more than 6 pounds, and Strat bodies are relatively small. It's warmer, and although the high frequencies are a bit niled, all three bands are even and grainy. Because of its heavy weight and high weight, rosewood is usually only used to make fretboards; It is also commonly used on the side backplates of premium acoustic guitars.

6. Walnut

Walnut is produced in North America, has a darker color, is rarely used on the body, and has timbre characteristics and hardness between mahogany and maple, which is warmer than maple, but has a better sustain effect.

7. Basswood basswood

Basswood is a very light wood, even lighter than alder. Basswood is very soft, so try not to let it get hit. Other than that, basswood is not very suitable for transparent lacquer finishes, and the basswood has a very warm and soft sound.

Spruce, rosewood, mahogany and common wood.

Trilywood guitar: This is the lowest grade of the acoustic guitar, except for the so-called popular piano, no matter what brand of guitar, it is in a popular grade. The top of this type of guitar is made of spruce (also known as white pine) plywood, and the back and side panels are generally made of harder wood plywood, and the better back and side panels are:

Rosewood plywood, mahogany plywood, etc. The wood is made of spruce, mahogany, and other conventional materials for guitars. The average plywood guitar can be seen from the sound hole with three mezzanines, and those without mezzanine are made of wooden boards.

Veneer guitar: that is, it is not a triple plywood, but a guitar made of solid wood. It is much better than the plywood guitar in terms of sound quality, with a rich tone, good texture and development.

Its top is made of spruce, which is recognized as the best wood in the world for guitars. The dorsal panels are made of mahogany or rosewood plywood. When choosing, first of all, among all the boards, it must be satisfied that the panel is a veneer, and the back plate or side panel can also be made into a veneer.

This is called a face back sheet or a face side sheet.

Full single guitar: its panel is made of spruce, some high-end piano panels have to go through more than ten years or even hundreds of years of natural drying, and then select the best wood from many woods as a panel, the back side plate is usually made of rosewood or mahogany, the best back side plate in the world is recognized as Brazilian rosewood, but it has been protected as a rare plant in Brazil.

Look at the wood grain, the wood grain is to identify what material is used, and look at the density of the wood grain, the denser, the better the wood...

However, if the paint is sprayed deeply, this method is not easy to identify. In addition, the cross-section of the case can be observed through the sound holes, where the wood-based panels are pressed in multiple layers, while the veneer guitars are made of natural wooden panels.

If you look at the wood grain, it is not very accurate, and if someone is bent on fake, then the wood grain can be made very similar and unrecognizable.
