What did the medals look like at Beijing 2008?
The medals of the 2008 Beijing Olympics have a diameter of 70mm and a thickness of 6mm. On the obverse of the medal is the uniform pattern of the IOC, namely the Greek goddess of victory standing with wings and the Panathinaiko Arena in Greece. The back of the medal is inlaid with ancient Chinese dragon jade, and the metal in the middle of the back is engraved with the emblem of the Beijing Olympics.
The medal hook evolved from the traditional Chinese jade double dragon Pu Wenhuang.
The whole medal is noble and elegant, rich in Chinese characteristics, which not only reflects the appreciation of the winners, but also vividly interprets the virtue of "jade" of the Chinese nation since ancient times, and is another "combination of Chinese and Western" in the image landscape project of the Beijing Olympic Games.
