The land can be roughly divided into five types of terrain: plains, mountains, plateaus, hills, and basins, with plains accounting for about 80 percent of the land area, about 100 million square kilometers;
Plains are large areas with flat ground or small undulations, and are mainly distributed on both sides of large rivers and areas near the ocean, and there are two major types of plains:
1. The independent plain is one of the five major land basic terrains in the world, such as the plain of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River;
2. The subordinate plain is a constituent unit in a larger vertical and oak loss terrain, and the plateau can include basins, and the basin often has plains and hills of different sizes, such as the Guanzhong Plain, the Chengdu Plain and several plains in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River are in the basin;
Basin to Plains Relationship: Some basins include plains, hills, and plains.

Northeast Plains
China's four major plains include the Northeast Plain, the North China Plain, the Middle and Lower Yangtze River Plain, and the Guanzhong Plain. The largest plain is the Northeast Plain. The four major plains in China are the Northeast Plain (350,000 square kilometers), the North China Plain (310,000 square kilometers), the lower reaches of the Yangtze River (160,000 square kilometers), and the Guanzhong Plain (about 40,000 square kilometers).
Northeast PlainsThe Northeast Plain (also known as the Songliao Plain) is located in the central part of the Northeast region. The east and west sides of the plain are the Changbai Mountains and the Great Xing'an Mountains, the north is the Little Xing'an Mountains Mountains, and the south end is near the Liaodong Bay, which is about 1,000 kilometers long from north to south, about 400 kilometers wide from east to west, with an area of 350,000 square kilometers, making it the largest plain in China.
It is between 40°25 and 48°40 north latitude and 118°40 and 128° east longitude. The Northeast Plain can be divided into three parts, the Northeast is mainly the Sanjiang Plain formed by the alluvium of the Heilongjiang, Songhua and Ussuri Rivers; The southern part is mainly the Liaohe River Plain, which is formed by the alluvium of the Liaohe River; The central part is the Songnen Plain, which is formed by the alluvial Songhua River and the Nenjiang River.
The Northeast Great Plain is a plain surrounded by mountains and rivers and fertile fields. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, a large number of demobilized soldiers, young intellectuals, and cadres responded to the call of the state and rushed to the "Great Northern Wilderness" with the lofty ambition of defending and building the frontier, draining the swamps and reclaiming the wasteland. Nowadays, it has developed into one of China's major grain bases, and the "Great Northern Wilderness" that was inaccessible in the past has been built into a rich "Great Northern Warehouse".

The largest plain in China is the Northeast Plain. The Northeast Plain, also known as the Songliao Plain (in a broad sense) and the Kanto Plain of Shengai, is one of the three major plains in China, and is also the largest plain in China, located in the northeast of China, composed of the Sanjiang Plain, the Songnen Plain and the Liaohe Plain, spanning Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia four provinces and regions, located between the large and small Xing'an Mountains and the Changbai Mountains, starting from the middle reaches of the Nenjiang River in the north and reaching Liaodong Bay in the south, with a length of about 1,000 kilometers from north to south and a width of about 400 kilometers from east to west, with an area of 350,000 square kilometers.
Geology and landform of the Northeast Plain
The Northeast Plain is located between the Great Xing'an Mountains and the Xiaoxing'an Mountains and the Zhangguangcai Mountains and the Changbai Mountains, and is the largest Mesozoic and Cenozoic continental fault-depression sedimentary basin (Songliao Basin) in Northeast China. It is adjacent to the Zhangguangcailing fold belt in the east, the northern margin of the North China Massif in the south, and the Mongolian-Xing'an fold belt in the west. The peripheral faults in the basin and the hidden faults in the basin are developed, and the north-north-east-trending lithospheric faults in the basin are the main body, which control the formation and distribution of the basin.
Associated development of NW, NWW, and NEE-trending faults. NE-trending faults are widely distributed, mainly including Nenjiang fault, Sunwu-Shuangliao fault and Yilan-Yitong fault. The NEW-trending fault structure in the basin was formed late, and the NE-trending faults are often cut, which has the characteristics of multi-stage activity.
The basin is mostly covered by Quaternary sediment samples, which are very developed and widely distributed, and the lithology is alluvial, flood and filial closure deposits, aeolian deposits, ice-water accumulations, marine and land interfacies clastic deposits, and local volcanic rocks. There are few bedrock outcrops, and intermittent Mesozoic geological bodies can be seen at the edge of the basin.
