On the eve of the 60th anniversary of Comrade Zhang Side's sacrifice, I interviewed Zhang Side's comrades-in-arms before his death and visited the places where Zhang Side fought, and I felt a lot of emotion. More than 60 years have passed, and people still remember Zhang Side's deeds vividly.

Walking into the barracks compound of a guard division in the Beijing Garrison District, surrounded by pines and cypresses, under the glow of the five-star red flag of hunting, a tall bust bronze statue is particularly eye-catching, he is 60 years ago, the protagonist of the famous speech of the chairman of the first "Serving the People" ——— Zhang Side.

In August 1933, the Fourth Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army liberated Zhang Side's hometown——— Liuhe Township, Yilong County, Sichuan, which is now Side Township. In Liuhe Township, the Red Army established the Soviet Union, leading the villagers to defeat the local tyrants and inferior gentry, divide the land and average grain, and the villagers who turned over raised their eyebrows and were jubilant. Young people from ten miles and eight towns have enthusiastically signed up to join the army.

Among these hot-blooded young people, there is an 18-year-old orphan known as "Gu Wazi", he is Zhang Side.

After Zhang Side participated in the revolution, he was full of courage in the battle, made many achievements, and was affectionately praised as the "little tiger" by his comrades-in-arms. In the winter of 1933, in the battle to capture Guankou Liang, in the predicament that our army could not attack for a long time, he took the initiative to ask for help, led the "sharp knife squad" around the mountain road, built a ladder, climbed over the wall and entered the village, and rushed into the enemy's cave like a "divine soldier descending from heaven", completely annihilating the stubborn enemy. In the spring of 1935, on the eve of the Jialing River crossing operation, the Red Fourth Front Army, under the leadership of the commander-in-chief, set up camp in Jiangdong and stood by, trying to build and find ships to cross the river.

One dark night, Zhang Side dive to the opposite shore alone with his good water nature, quietly cut two cables with a sickle, and dragged the two boats back, which made great achievements for the later large army to cross the west at the Taziya ferry in the south of Cangxi City.

During the Japanese War, Wang Erxiao's hometown was the anti-Japanese base of the Eighth Route Army, and was often "swept away" by Japanese devils. On October 25, 1942 (September 16 of the lunar calendar), the Japanese devils came to sweep again, and got lost when they reached the mountain pass. When the enemy saw Wang Erxiao grazing cattle on the hillside, they asked him to lead the way.

Wang Erxiao pretended to be obedient and walked in front, and in order to protect the villagers who were transferring and hiding, he brought the enemy into the ambush circle of the Eighth Route Army. Suddenly, gunshots rang out from all directions, and the enemy knew that he had been fooled, so he angrily killed Wang Erxiao with a bayonet, and at this time, the Eighth Route Army rushed down from the mountain and wiped out all the enemies.

After Wang Erxiao died, the local soldiers and civilians buried him on the hillside of Liujiazhuang. At that time, Comrade Zhang Shikui (later a retired cadre of Baoding City), a cadre of the Laiyuan County Youth Rescue Association, got the news and immediately reported it to the Youth Rescue Association of the border area. According to this report, lyricist Fang Bing and composer Rob Fu immediately created the song "Singing the Second Little Cowherd".

This song has been sung to this day and has infected countless teenagers. Now, Wang Erxiao's grave is covered with grass. The big stone that stained him red with blood is still lying quietly in the ravine, and people call it "the blood-colored stone".

When the final act of the theatrical folly comes to an end, the audience streams out of the theater and returns home to start their normal lives again. However, when the curtain falls on the political career of a leading figure, this normal life of the audience changes, and the course of history may change profoundly.
