In 1949, it was renamed the National Basketball Association (NBA) and has remained in use today. The association's headquarters are located at the Olympic Tower Building at 645 Fifth Avenue in New York, and its current president is David Stern. On April 6, 1946, Walter A. Brown, the owner of Boston Garden, initiated the establishment of the "American Basketball Association (BAA)", and on June 6, the BAA was established at the Captain's Hotel near the ** station in New York.
The meeting determined that 11 participating teams and each team will play 60 regular season games. For the first time, Brown proposed a high salary system and a contract system, which means that professional basketball must have strong financial support in order to keep the game at a high level. The contract system means that a player can only sign a contract with one club, and a player reserve system is set up in case the player leaves the team suddenly.
