Pig iron generally refers to an alloy of iron with a carbon content of 2. Also known as cast iron. In addition to carbon, pig iron also contains silicon, manganese and a small amount of sulfur and phosphorus, etc., which can be cast but not malleable.
According to the different forms of carbon in pig iron, it can be divided into steelmaking pig iron, cast pig iron and ductile iron. The carbon in steelmaking pig iron mainly exists in the form of iron carbide, and its cross-section is white, usually called white iron. This pig iron is hard and brittle, and is generally used as a raw material for steelmaking.
The carbon in cast pig iron exists in the form of flake graphite, and its fracture is gray, which is usually called gray iron. Because graphite is soft and lubricating, cast pig iron has good cutting, wear resistance and casting properties. However, its positional strength is not enough, so it cannot be forged, and can only be used to manufacture various castings, such as casting various machine tool bases, iron pipes, etc.
The carbon in ductile iron exists in the form of spherical graphite, and its mechanical properties are far better than that of gray iron and close to steel, it has excellent casting, cutting and wear resistance, and has a certain elasticity, which is widely used in the manufacture of crankshafts, gears, pistons and other advanced castings and a variety of mechanical parts. In addition, there is pig iron containing silicon, manganese, nickel or other elements with a particularly high content, called alloy pig iron, such as ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, etc., which is often used as a raw material for steelmaking. The addition of pig iron to certain alloys in steelmaking can improve the properties of the steel.
Generally, the carbon content is less than wrought iron or pure iron, the content is called steel, and the content above is called pig iron. Wrought iron is soft, good plasticity, easy to deform, low strength and hardness, and is not widely used; Pig iron contains a lot of carbon, is hard and brittle, and has little plasticity.
-
The difference between pig iron and wrought iron is mainly the difference in carbon content: pig iron with greater carbon content, and less than wrought iron with carbon content. There are too many characteristics of the two to be explained here.
-
Pig iron with high carbon content is pig, and the so-called wrought iron is actually steel with low carbon content.
-
The difference between pig iron and wrought iron is mainly the difference in carbon content. The carbon content of pig iron is more than 1 7, and the carbon content of wrought iron is less than 0 2.
-
Pig iron is crispy, wrought iron is soft.
Pig iron is cheaper than wrought iron.
There are many pig iron selections for casting.
-
1. The difference in carbon content, 2% iron with carbon content is called pig iron; Iron with less carbon content is called wrought iron; The amount of carbon between the iron is called steel.
2. Differences in performance.
1) Wrought iron performance, the texture is very soft, the ductility is good, easy to deform, the strength and hardness are low, easy to forge and weld, and the use is not wide. As an electrical material, pure iron has high permeability and is used in various iron cores. It is also used as a raw material for high-grade alloy steel, and pure iron is rarely used as a structural material due to its soft texture and low strength.
2) Pig iron performance, containing more carbon, wear resistance, good castability, but hard and brittle, can not be forged. According to the different carbon, it is divided into: steelmaking pig iron, cast pig iron and so on.

The iron pot is good for pig iron.
When frying, it is better to choose a cast iron pot, although the heat transfer speed of the cast iron pot is slower than that of the wrought iron pot, its heat dissipation rate is higher than that of the wrought iron pot, so when frying food, the cast iron pot is not easy to paste the pot.
In the case of normal use, do not wash off the oil film on the surface of the pig iron pot, and clean it in time after frying, and the pig iron pot is less prone to rust.
How to boil the iron pot
1. Wash the new pot with dish soap and warm water, add half a pot of water, and cook on the stove for 5 minutes.
2. Add dish soap again, wash the pot again, this time the water is very clean, not so dark, wipe the water dry.
3. Pour in a little more oil, heat over low heat, shake the pot, lubricate the wall of the pot with hot oil, and try to lubricate every place.
4. Pour out the oil in the pot, find a piece of pork skin, rub it on the wall of the pot, wipe it everywhere, turn off the heat and let it cool. Wipe the pork skin 3 5 times repeatedly to keep the pan smooth and shiny.
5. Add warm water to wash the pot, wipe the water dry, and then smear a layer of oil with pork skin, let it stand overnight, and the pot is completed.
How to choose a wok
1. Choose from the shape.
When we choose a wok, the first thing is to pay attention to the shape of the wok, generally semi-circular and arc-shaped is the best, such a wok, lean meat is relatively uniform, very suitable for stir-frying a variety of food, although the pan does not stick to the pan, but it is not as good as a semi-circle in terms of heating.
2. Choose from the material.
The materials of the wok are also very rich, in addition to the iron pan that we usually use, there are also aluminum alloy or steel. In the process of selection, we must first choose aluminum alloy, followed by stainless steel, both of which have relatively good thermal conductivity, but for people who have no cooking experience, it is easier to control the heat if you choose a pig iron pot.
Iron is divided into pig iron and wrought iron, which means that the carbon content of wrought iron decreases after various heating, which increases the hardness. The difference between pig iron and wrought iron is how much carbon it contains. Pig iron has a higher carbon content and wrought iron has a lower carbon content. The carbon content of steel is between pig iron and wrought iron. >>>More
As a Chinese, these are still worthy of our pride, and steel has been found in the ruins of the Warring States in our country.
Iron is exposed to the air, and if there is moisture, it will oxidize into iron oxide (Fe2O3) and ferrous oxide (FeO), and the mixture of iron oxide and ferrous oxide is called ferric oxide, which is rust. >>>More
