Since the National Center for the Performing Arts' "Dome" design plan was introduced, the debate about Andrew and the "Dome" has been ongoing. There are many doubts about the design of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and not most people in China are opposed to the "dome" design of the Grand Theatre, and among all the criticisms, one mainstream view is that the design of the Grand Theatre is rather bizarre and does not conform to the style and characteristics of Chinese architecture. What is Chinese-style architecture, we can't use traditional concepts to measure modern architecture.

The exterior of the National Center for the Performing Arts is a steel structure shell, which is semi-ellipsoidal, with a plane projection with a length of meters on the east-west long axis, a north-south short axis length of meters, a building height of meters, slightly lower than the Great Hall of the People, and the deepest part of the foundation reaches meters, which is as high as a 10-story building.

1. The shell of the Grand Theater is spliced by more than 18,000 titanium plates, covering an area of more than 30,000 square meters, and only 4 of the more than 18,000 titanium plates are exactly the same shape. The titanium metal plate has undergone special oxidation treatment, and its surface metallic luster is very textured, and the color will not change for 15 years. In the middle is a gradual glass curtain wall, which is made of more than 1,200 pieces of ultra-clear glass.

2. The ellipsoid shell surrounds the artificial lake, with an area of 10,000 square meters, and various passages and entrances are located under the water surface. Pedestrians enter the performance hall through an 80-metre-long underwater passageway.

3. In order to prevent the noise caused by raindrops falling on the dome with an area of ten football fields, Tsinghua University conducted repeated experiments. Experiments have shown that without effective noise prevention, the sound of the entire dome will sound like a thousand drums when the rain falls. The problem of noise prevention between theaters and between theaters and between theaters and outside the theater is also due to the use of a technology called "sound gate".
