Sun Moon Lake was formerly known as Shuishalian, also known as Shuisheli, located in Shuishe Village, Yuchi Township, Nantou County, north of Alishan and south of Nenggao Mountain. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in Taiwan and can be called the crown of pearls. It is also one of the few famous mountain lakes in the country.

In the Qing Dynasty, it was selected as one of the eight major scenery in Taiwan, and was known as "a hole in the sky overseas". Sun Moon Lake and Alishan, two popular attractions are often mentioned together, but when they are strung together to play, the traffic is actually very inconvenient. Generally, they go to Sun Moon Lake from Taichung, and go to Alishan from Chiayi, and the two are played separately.

If you must play together, you can also try it. Sun Moon Lake to Alishan twice a day minibus (Sun Moon Lake to Alishan can only take the minibus), each car 15 seats, it is best to ask the locals to help buy tickets, otherwise it is not easy to buy. Starting from the Sun Moon Lake Water Society Visitor Center, the 21st line of the driving platform is convenient for passengers to stop at Xiangshan, Xinyi Farmers' Association, Heshe, Tataga and other areas along the way, and finally arrive at Alishan.
