The title of the Great. Mount Tai was known as "Shenzhou" in ancient times, "Jinan Mansion is full of people, and Tai'an Prefecture is full of God". On the tablet of the existing Dai Temple's "Five Mountains True Map", the pictographic symbols of the five mountains are engraved, and the duties of the five mountain gods are divided.
The authority assigned to the god Taishan is the greatest: "The Lord is in the official position of the people of the world and the period of life and death, and also pays attention to the distinction between high and low, and the long and short things." "Dongyue Taishan Jun, leading the gods of 5,900 people, presiding over life and death, the commander of the hundred ghosts, and the blood food temple worship Zongbo.
After Zhu Yuanzhang, Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, ascended the throne, he reformed the feudal Zen system, and changed from the emperor to the official sacrifice. In 1370 A.D., a monument was erected in the Dai temple to correct the name, and all the titles of the god of Mount Tai were removed. Although the title has been removed, the title of Dongyue Emperor is still used throughout the dynasties.
Regional characteristics. Scholar Wang Keyu believes that Dongyue Temple mainly has three major regional characteristics, one is that Dongyue Temple in the region of the wax chain spread first originated in present-day Shandong, the Tang Dynasty "Yuanhe County Atlas" contained in the Yutai (now Shandong) Taishan Mansion Jun Temple, for the earliest Dongyue Temple seen in the official gazetteer. Since then, the temple worship has gradually spread to the northern states and counties, and the Tang Dynasty's Helun Sunan, Hebei, Hedong and other provinces - that is, the areas where Dongyue Temples were built earlier in Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, Hebei and other places.
This area is also the traditional area of Taishan faith. As early as the Han Dynasty, the belief that "Mount Tai is the main death" prevailed here.
The second is that the southern region of China is almost at the same time as the construction of the Dongyue Temple in the north, and some of the southern parts will begin to build such ancestral halls, such as the Taishan Mansion Jun Temple in Shudi, which appeared in the late Tang Dynasty at the latest, and in addition, part of the Dongyue Temple in the south of the Yangtze River and Fujian was also built in the Tang Dynasty. However, the general prosperity of Dongyue Temple in the south began in the Song and Song dynasties. In particular, the Song Dynasty crossed to the south and vigorously promoted the worship of Dongyue in the south of the Yangtze River, and made the southern Yibei Fight become an important town of Taishan faith.
The third is China's border areas, after the Song and Yuan dynasties, with the development of the frontier by successive dynasties, the Dongyue temple worship also began to spread to the border areas. The Dongyue Temple in the Yuan Dynasty was first built in Hannan Mongolia, and after the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Ningxia and other places were successively incorporated into its territory, including the official sacrificial system of the Dongyue Temple in the above areas. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Zheng Chenggong of the Southern Ming Dynasty recovered Taiwan, built Dongyue Temple in Tainan, and spread the temple worship to Taiwan.
After the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, the Manchu and Han cultures were increasingly integrated, and the Dongyue Temple was greatly developed in the northeast, and then the Qing Dynasty pacified Xinjiang and other places, and the government decree was carried out in the borderlands, prompting the Dongyue Temple to be promoted to these regions.
