In August of the same year, he participated in the Nanchang Uprising and served as a member of the Revolutionary Committee, a party representative and director of the Political Department of the Third Division of the 20th Army of the Rebel Army. In 1928, he studied in a special class at Sun Yat-sen University in Moscow.
In November 1931, he was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Chinese Soviet Republic, served as the Acting Minister of Education of the Provisional Chinese Soviet Republic, and concurrently served as the Vice President of the Soviet University. In 1934, at the age of 57, he participated in the 25,000-mile Long March of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, showing the fearless revolutionary spirit of the old hero.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, from October 1949 to September 1954, he served as a member of the People's Committee. At an ancient age, he devoted himself vigorously to the construction of New China and devoted himself to the cause of socialist education.
