The place where the gecko breaks its tail is not at the joint between the two tail vertebrae, but occurs at the special cartilage diaphragm in the middle of the same vertebrae, which is formed in the process of ossification of the coccygeal vertebrae, and the cells of the cartilage diaphragm maintain the characteristics of embryonic tissue throughout their lives and can continue to differentiate, so the gecko can grow a new tail after the tail is broken.

The gecko's tail is easy to break, but it can regenerate, which is due to the fact that there is a smooth articular surface in the tail vertebrae, which connects the front and rear half of the tail vertebrae, and the muscles, scales, and scales in this place are relatively thin and loose;

When the tail is attacked, it can swing its body violently, and through the strong contraction of the tail muscles, the tail vertebrae will break at the joint surface, so as to escape from the enemy.
