Xiao Hong (1911-1942), formerly known as Zhang Naiying, pen name Xiao Hong, quietly yin, was born in a landlord family in Hulan County, Heilongjiang Province, and lost his mother at an early age. In 1930, in order to oppose arranged marriages and escape from the family, he submitted articles to the newspaper in embarrassment, and thus met Xiao Jun, the two fell in love, Xiao Hong also embarked on the road of writing, and the two completed the essay collection "Commercial Street" togetherIn 1934, he went to Shanghai, met Lu Xun, and completed the long "Life and Death Field" in the same year, which was published as one of the "Slave Series" with Lu Xun's help the following year.
Xiao Hong thus achieved a place in the history of modern literature. "The Field of Life and Death" was one of the earliest works reflecting the life and struggle of the people of Northeast China under the rule of Japanese imperialism, which attracted the attention of the literary circles at that time. Lu Xun wrote a preface for it and gave enthusiastic encouragement.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he participated in the anti-Japanese salvation movement. Later, at the invitation of Li Gongfu, he went to Linfen, Shanxi Province to teach at the National Revolutionary University. In 1940, he went to Hong Kong.
Xiao Hong's ** with left-wing realist style also has a long story "Ma Bole", but the quality is not high. Her more accomplished novels are the reminiscence novels "The Legend of the Hulan River" written in Hong Kong, as well as a series of short and medium-length stories reminiscing about her hometown, such as "On the Oxcart" and "March in a Small Town".
The uneducated but gifted woman had a sad fate, and when she died in Hong Kong on January 22, 1942, the two men in her life were absent.
