Gender discrimination has a serious impact on women. Women face unequal treatment in all fields. In terms of employment, women not only struggle to secure well-paid positions and promotions, but also face wage inequality.

Many women earn a fraction or less of the wages of their male counterparts for their labor, day in and day out. In the entertainment industry, women face various forms of unfair treatment such as the strong promotion of gender stereotypes, sexual harassment and physicism.

In addition, women face gender discrimination in education and health. These problems are reflected in the limited availability and low quality of public health care, the lack of professional attention and support for women's sexual health, and the lack of protection for women's food, clothing, shelter and transportation. When it comes to education, women may not have the same opportunities to receive high-quality education in school, being limited by a few disciplines and career fields.

However, seeing the problem of sexism is the first step, and we still need to make positive changes about sexism. This requires a range of measures to create a relatively equal environment and opportunities. State and social institutions can implement specific laws and policies to ensure that women not only enjoy equal protection and rights, but also have equal opportunities to develop their careers.

Schools can promote more gender education and encourage women's participation in innovation and entrepreneurship through funding and incubating women entrepreneurs. Technology and institutions can change outdated stereotypes and cultural values and advance gender equality by adopting diverse and inclusive voices.

Sex discrimination refers to the differential or unequal treatment of individuals or groups of individuals because of their sex and gender. The United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women states that discrimination on the basis of sex may affect the human rights and fundamental freedoms of citizens in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field.

Equality between men and women is the basic national policy of China. The Chinese Constitution stipulates that women enjoy equal rights with men in political, economic, cultural, social and family life. China's Anti-Domestic Violence Law and the Law on the Protection of Rights and Interests of Women, among others, protect women from discrimination on the basis of sex.

In addition, there are provisions in laws such as the Civil Code and the Labour Code that deal with the protection of women's rights and interests.

Gender discrimination refers to the differential or unequal treatment of individuals or groups based on their sexuality and gender. At present, Chinese law does not have a clear definition of "discrimination" and "gender discrimination", and some local regulations define gender discrimination. For example, the Regulations on the Promotion of Gender Equality in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, adopted in 2012, stipulate that the term "gender discrimination" in these Regulations refers to any distinction, exclusion or restriction made on the basis of sex, and its purpose or consequences directly or indirectly affect or infringe on the rights and interests of men and women for gender equality.

In some countries (e.g., Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States), the meaning of gender is extended to include "gender diversity", that is, discrimination based on gender identity (including transgender, intersex people, etc.), gender expression, and sexual orientation is illegal.

Gender discrimination can arise from ** behavior (e.g., laws, policies) or through personal behavior (e.g., words, behaviors).

Broadly speaking, sexism is the result of patriarchy. Different schools of thought have different interpretations of what patriarchy is, but the basic consensus is that patriarchy is the sum total of social powers and institutions capable of creating male domination over women. Sex discrimination is similar to gender stereotypes and gender biases in that they are based on differences between sex and sex, except that gender stereotypes and gender biases do not necessarily constitute sex discrimination, but only when the effects or purposes of distinctions, exclusions and restrictions based on sex are sufficient to impair or nullify the recognition, enjoyment or exercise by women of their human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, civil or any other field.
