The raw material used in the gangue brick factory is coal gangue, which is mixed with many limestone blocks, resulting in high calcium content of coal gangue, and the CAO content is between 2% and 10%. After sintering, the limestone (CaCO3) in the gangue bricks is decomposed into calcium oxide (CaO), which leads to the increase of calcium oxide in the bricks, and the presence of granular calcium oxide is the main reason for the stone explosion of the sintered gangue bricks. When the quicklime (CaO) in the brick body is transformed into Ca(OH)2 by moisture, the volume will change, and the stress will be generated on the brick, and when the stress exceeds the strength of the brick itself, the brick will burst.

The precautions that should be taken when watering coal gangue bricks are described as follows.

a.The length of watering time can be increased or decreased according to the change of seasons and the amount of calcium oxide content in the gangue. In winter, 400mm high 10,000 brick stacks, watered with a 4-inch pump, watering continuous time, spring, summer and autumn watering time in the gangue when the calcium oxide content is high, the amount of watering should be increased, the watering time should be extended, so that all the CAO in the brick is hydrated into Ca(OH)2, and the water flows away from the gap in the brick stack.

b.When watering, the watering personnel should control the watering range of the brick stack and spray evenly within the range. It is strictly forbidden to soak the brick stacks that have not been watered or the brick stacks that have not been poured within 1 hour.

c.Watering personnel should be conscientious and responsible, strictly water on time, not shorten the watering time, and check the temperature of the poured brick stack at any time, and find that the brick stack with residual heat should be watered as soon as possible.

d.Ensure that the water and electricity used for pouring bricks are normal. Water and power transmission personnel should cooperate closely with brick pouring personnel.

When the water and power are cut off, the brick pouring personnel should be notified in advance, and the brick pouring personnel are not allowed to open and pour new brick stacks after receiving the notice. If the water and electricity are not normal, do not open the new brick stacks, and wait for the water and electricity to return to normal before pouring new brick stacks.

e.When it rains, unwatered brick stacks and kiln car bricks should be protected from rain. If the brick stacks get wet from the rain, they should be watered as soon as possible.

f.There should be a gap of 20cm between the brick stacks and the brick stacks. In this way, it is not only conducive to controlling the watering range, reducing the impact on the adjacent brick stacks during the watering process, but also conducive to the discharge of Ca(OH)2 with the water.
