A1 is not an English test, in the UK A1 is only an English proficiency level. The UK Immigration Department divides English proficiency into six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The A1 level is the lowest, and the C2 level is the highest.
A1 is the English proficiency required for general immigrants, which is basically defined as being able to communicate with locals in the UK in a simple language, and be able to understand some necessary daily life language. Therefore, immigrants currently applying for a UK partner visa (for academic purposes) need to have an English language level of the so-called UK A1.
A1 is just an English proficiency level, and the next step is which UK** exams are recognisable and what the corresponding score is. At present, the English tests we are familiar with are recognized by the UK**, and applicants who are ready to immigrate to the UK can choose, such as TOEFLs, IELTS and other English tests. However, for the vast majority of immigration applicants, the English level is not very high, and it is difficult to take tests such as TOEFL and IELTS.
Fortunately, the UK immigration authorities also recognise some other English tests, such as the IESOL English test and so on. Such an English test can also be used to determine whether the applicant can reach the A1 level based on the applicant's score. And compared with several tests, the same A1 standard, TOEFL and IELTS have the highest requirements for the applicant's overall English ability, while IESOL has relatively low requirements.
After years of training experience, it is found that the English test has the lowest English proficiency requirements for applicants, so usually applicants will participate in IESOL's pre-test training and can pass the English test at one time. The test mode and IELTS test are almost divided into listening, speaking, reading and writing, while paying attention to the assessment of candidates' oral communication skills, they also comprehensively evaluate the candidates' listening, reading and writing skills, thus comprehensively proving that the candidates have reached the A1 level of English ability.

A1 level English test abroad (A1 test center).
According to the latest regulations, to apply for a fiancé in the UK, you must have an A1 level of English, and as long as your English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills reach the level of a 7-year-old primary school student in the UK, you can successfully obtain the language score in the marriage visa, which is equivalent to the basic English requirements for the current work visa. People who have reached this level are generally able to have a simple conversation, and there is no problem with shopping and asking for directions. The person concerned needs to go to the UK visa office of each country to take the English speaking test, or go to the British immigration office or the educational institution designated by the embassy to take the test, and pass the test before applying for a visa.
Under the new law, foreign immigrants are not eligible for social benefits (unemployment benefits, housing allowances, public housing, etc.) regardless of their status (including marriage visas) until they officially become British citizens. From 6 April 2011, anyone married to a British national must pass an English (forum) test when applying for a marriage visa, and the applicant must have reached English level A1. If you don't speak English, you can't come to the UK for reunion.
Level A1 is actually a very low standard, and anyone who has graduated from primary school in China should be able to pass it. Holders of a marriage visa, after the expiration of the two-year marriage visa, cannot automatically obtain permanent residence as before, and must go through a scoring and an English test, and be converted from a trainee citizen to a full citizen. On the issue of marriage, the difference between the new law and the current law is that in order for foreigners to come to the UK, they must integrate into British society, have good English, and be able to serve the community.
