The next thing you need is to enter your IP address. If you have your own server, have a fixed IP, then please enter the IP address, if you just set up FTP on your own computer, and it is a dial-up user, some are only dynamic IP, no fixed IP, then this step is saved, do not fill in anything, serv-u

Next", ask if you allow anonymous access Generally speaking, anonymous access is logged in with anonymous as the user name, no password required, of course, if you want to set up a member area or something, you should choose "no", not so that anyone can log in, only licensed users can, here we fill in "yes";

Next", ask you the directory when an anonymous user logs in to your PC. You can specify a directory that already exists on the hard disk, such as f: temp xyz;

Next", ask if you want to lock the directory, after locking, the anonymous login user will only think that the directory you specified (f: temp xyz) is the root directory, that is to say, he can only access the files and folders in this directory, and cannot be accessed outside this directory, for anonymous users generally fill in "yes".

Next", ask you if you want to create a named account, that is to say, you can specify users to access your FTP with a specific account, which can be very useful for the membership area, you can create an account for everyone, each account has different permissions, you can restrict everyone's rights in different programs, the method will be talked about later, here select "Yes".

In Win NT 2000, SERV-U is automatically installed as a system service, but in Win 9X ME, you need to select "Auto Start" in the "Server" panel for it to become a system service. The Serv-U user interface (i.e. the Serv-U Administrator, which is responsible for interacting with the Serv-U engine.

It allows the user to configure serv-u, including creating domains, defining users, and telling the server if it is accessible. The easiest way to start the SERV-U administrator is to click directly on the "U" icon in the system bar, or run it from the Start menu.
