When I opened my eyes, I saw that the scorpion had fallen into the water again. He rescued it again, and of course it was stung again. He continued to meditate.

After a while, he had the same misfortune again. The fisherman next to him said, "You are so stupid, don't you know that scorpions can sting?"

I know, I was stung three times by it. "Then why did you save it? It is in its nature to sting, and compassion is in my nature.

My nature does not change because of its nature. At this time, he heard the sound of struggle again. At first glance, it was still the scorpion.

He looked at his swollen hand and saw the scorpion struggling in the water and reached out to it again without hesitation. At this time, the fisherman handed him a dry twig. The Zen practitioner uses this branch to scoop up the scorpion and place it on the shore.

The fisherman smiled and said, "Compassion is right, both for the scorpion and for yourself." Therefore, compassion requires the means of compassion. Only by protecting yourself can you be qualified to be kind to others.

I love this story, it reminds me of a common saying: "It's hard to be a good person these days". Yes, it is in the nature of a good man to do good.

But the object of doing good is not necessarily good; The result of doing good is not necessarily the result of goodness. Why is this so? As the fisherman said:

First of all, we must be responsible for ourselves, so that we can truly be responsible for others. It's hard to imagine how a person who can't even take care of himself can take care of others. Only by protecting oneself can one be qualified and capable of treating others well.

If you are good to others, others will be good to you. It can also be understood as doing unto others as you would not have them do unto you. Treat others with a kind heart and think more about others, and the result is also the best for yourself.
