It's really made up. Buddhism has had a profound impact on Chinese culture, but today's Chinese folk Buddhism is very different from the Buddhism founded by Shakyamuni. In fact, Shakyamuni was a saint, a great thinker, who claimed to be a man, not a god, and he did not worship God, nor did he allow believers to worship idols.
However, after his death, he was deified by posterity, and his teachings were distorted. Dr. Leung explained that Shakyamuni did not compile his own teachings during his lifetime, and that the original Buddhist scriptures were passed down orally from generation to generation by followers rather than written down, and were not collected until 500 years after his death.
Buddhist scriptures that have been passed down orally for 500 years will inevitably have distortions and deviations, and more importantly, some believers add their own understandings and teachings in the oral transmission process, resulting in the vast number of Buddhist scriptures today, the content is different, and even contradictory in many places. It can be seen that the Buddhist scriptures today are no longer the teachings of Shakyamuni. ”
Another "creation" of folk Buddhism is the bodhisattva. Shakyamuni did not mention "Bodhisattva", and the statue of Bodhisattva enshrined in the temple is even more contrary to Shakyamuni's teachings. The Buddhist Emperor Ashoka ordered the eradication of 18,000 idols, because the devout Ashoka knew that idolatry was contrary to the tenets of Buddhism.
As for the Guanyin Bodhisattva, which is widely believed by the Chinese people, it has been continuously "modified" by later generations. Dr. Leung said that Guanyin is a new deity that Buddhists assemble from India to be a god of compassion and freedom, and that Guanyin was originally a man with a beard, but was later changed to a woman by Chinese Buddhists. It can be seen that Guanyin is just a product of posterity.
And the so-called bodhisattva manifestations are the work of evil spirits. ”
He added that Buddhism did not have the doctrine of eternal life, reincarnation, or heaven at first, and that it was all copied or modified by later believers that the teachings of other religions were copied or adapted, and that the purpose was to make Buddhism more up-to-date and adapt to the needs of the times, so as to increase its viability and competitiveness of other religions.

This is a figurative teaching of the Dharma by later generations of monks, not the original meaning of the Buddha. I just want to explain that suffering is an instinct that people are born with, and as long as people's thoughts and behaviors still exist, the feeling of suffering will always exist.
According to Buddhism, the root cause of suffering lies in one's own greed, love, attachment, and desire for oneself and the outside world, and all kinds of delusions, or resentment because of the unsatisfying gains. Or they are proud because they get too much, and they are always struggling with their own sense of greed, and they don't realize that everything in the world is temporary, that there is no eternal, that there is no eternal life, so as long as they cling to their desires, suffering will always exist.
Practicing the Dharma is not to escape the sufferings of life, but to know and understand it normally, not to be attached to it. Knowing that suffering is also temporary and impermanent, and that only by overcoming delusions and wrong desires can we have peace in our hearts.

Life is a hardship, and life is a practice! Have you ever heard anyone say: My life is smooth sailing. Presumably not.
-
There are eight hardships in life, birth, old age, sickness, death, love and separation, resentment for a long time, can't ask for it, and can't let go.
Life has this, it can't be detached, and it is a pain to keep reincarnating.
-
The sea of suffering in the world is boundless, and Buddhism summarizes eight categories.
1, bitter - reincarnation, birth and growth, running for survival, fighting all life, very bitter 2, old bitter - when you are old, it is not good-looking; When I'm older, I can't walk. It's bitter.
3. Sickness - go to the hospital to see more, illness is very painful, everyone is inevitable.
4. Death is bitter - when people die, they struggle, wail, and cry, and they must be very bitter.
5 Asking for no suffering—There are many desires in a person's life, dreams of them, but none of the things they wish for are not fulfilled.
6.Love parting from bitterness - people who like it are always not together.
7 Grievances and hatreds will be bitter - villains are always around, and enemies always meet together.
8 The five aggregates are blazing and bitter - the body and mind are inexplicably troubled, burning like fire.
This is just a big classification, and the subdivision is boundless suffering. Therefore, the first of the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism is to talk about suffering.
-
"Uncle Li's Collected Works": "The Buddha not only said that life is suffering, but also said that suffering has a cause of suffering, and if you remove the cause of suffering, you can get ultimate happiness." Those who study Buddhism should study according to the methods instructed by the Buddha, and change this incomplete and imperfect life into a fully complete life.
In this realm, Buddhism is called Happiness and Purity. Always is eternal, happiness is happiness, I am free, pure is pure and pure. Taken together, these four words are eternal happiness, eternal freedom, and eternal purity.
The greatest goal of Buddhism is not only to say that life is suffering, but mainly to change this suffering life into a life of eternal happiness, freedom, purity and purity. ”
Note: The Buddha said that life is suffering, what does suffering mean? The scriptures say that "impermanence is therefore suffering", and all impermanence will change, and the Buddha said that life is suffering in the sense of impermanence and change, and suffering is flawed, immanent, and not thorough.
If a student of Buddhism does not understand the true meaning and thinks that life is not complete and complete, it will lead to a negative and pessimistic attitude, and the view of truly understanding the Dharma will be completely different. You must know that the Buddha's saying that life is suffering is to know that life is not complete and permanent, and that we can create a permanent and complete life in the future. It means that the patient must first know that there is a disease before he is willing to ask a doctor for treatment, so that the disease will be removed and the body will return to health.
Master Hongyi, a modern monk, and the patriarch of Nanshan Law.
