4.Other possible causes include: The boot volume is corrupted and cannot be initialized by Windows XP.

If the file system is corrupted and Windows XP is unable to initialize the boot volume during the boot process, move the drive to a different computer running Windows XP and run the chkdsk command on that drive, or try to create a parallel installation of Windows XP in a separate folder on the drive. The Windows XP installer checks the integrity of the volume before copying the files, and may fix some issues during the check.
