Starting from Chen Linggong, the Chen State experienced three civil strife and the disaster of the country's demise, and the country's strength became increasingly declining. For the last hundred years, Chen was a puppet state attached to Chu for most of the time. When Chu was weak, he was obedient to Jin and Wu.

In 598 B.C., the king of Chuzhuang took advantage of Chen's internal strife to destroy Chen, placed it as a county, and soon reinstated it. In 534 B.C., the state of Chen was in civil strife due to contention, and the king of Chu Ling made his son abandon the disease and destroy Chen as a county. In 429 BC, after King Chuping seized the throne, in order to win the hearts of the people, he once again restored Chen to the country.

In 478 BC, the state of Chen, which was attached to Wu, was attacked by the Chu division led by the Gongsun Dynasty of Chu and finally fell in 479 BC. From the above-mentioned changes in the state of Chen, it is shown that although the state of Chen suffered several disasters of annihilation, it did not really fall until 479 BC and became the territory of the state of Chu.
