The Korean language major of the School of Foreign Chinese Languages of Shandong University was founded in 1992 in the year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, and is one of the earliest institutions in China to establish a Korean language major. In 1994, it was admitted to undergraduate students, and in 2003, it was granted the right to confer master's degrees. The Department of Korean Language has three research directions: Korean language, Korean literature, and Korean culture.

In December 2007, the Korean language major was declared as a national second-class characteristic major construction site and was approved, and the construction was officially launched in 2008.

The Korean language major has a well-structured, experienced teaching and scientific research team, and a number of Korean foreign teachers are hired all year round.

The department has trained about 400 students, and currently has about 200 students.

The faculty is strong. There are 8 full-time teachers in the department, including 1 professor, 4 associate professors and 3 lecturers. Among the teachers, there are 4 master's supervisors and 6 doctoral degree holders.

All teachers have overseas experience, most of them have studied for master's and doctoral degrees in Korea, have mastered rich professional knowledge, understand the latest Korean studies trends, and maintain close ties with Korean academic circles, which has a unique advantage in Korean Chinese language teaching and research.

Outstanding achievements in teaching and scientific research. In recent years, he has published a number of academic works, translations, and textbooks, published dozens of articles, presided over and participated in a number of projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, and has a certain influence in the Korean academic circles at the national and foreign levels.

Teachers' professional orientations are diverse. Our faculty members have in-depth research in the fields of Korean Chinese linguistics, Korean literature, Korean culture, and Korean Chinese education, and also have rich practical experience in Korean Chinese interpretation and translation, which can meet the needs of students for further study in these fields.

Establish an exchange student system. Shandong University has exchange and cooperation relations with more than 30 universities in South Korea, including Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Kyung Hee University, ** University, Changwon University, Gyeongsang University, and Junwon University. Every year, the department sends students of one grade (class) to study abroad, allowing them to improve their language skills and experience Korean society and culture firsthand.

Great location. Shandong University is located in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, and Jinan is located in the first place of Shandong Province.
