Zhu Zhankui, known as Zhongwu, was born in 1909 in Anci, Hebei.
In 1935, he served as the captain of the 4th Reserve of the Yongqing County Defense Regiment in Hebei Province, and organized anti-Japanese guerrillas to fight against the Japanese army after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War.
