Zhang Ailing's mother is Huang Yifan, formerly known as Huang Suqiong, born in 1896, the mother of the famous writer Zhang Ailing. Zhang Ailing's mother - Huang Yifan, Huang Yifan is also a prominent family, and her grandfather Huang Yisheng was the admiral of the seven provinces of the Yangtze River in the late Qing Dynasty, usually called Huang Yisheng of the military gate. When Li Hongzhang's Huai Army was first established and left for Shanghai, the 5,000 sailors under Huang Yisheng's command also belonged to Li Hongzhang's system and were his deputies.
In the fourth year of Tongzhi (1865), Li Hongzhang was ordered to suppress the Twist Army, and in the battle against the East Twist, Huang Yisheng's sailor was stationed on the front line of the canal, blocking the Westward Twist from breaking through, and made a contribution to the Qing Dynasty and awarded the title of Baron.
The Huang family also left real estate in Nanjing, No. 14 Zhu Zhuangyuan Lane on Mochou Road, known as the Military Gate Admiral's Mansion, the Ming Dynasty was originally part of Zhu Zhuangyuan's Mansion, Huang Yi was promoted to Nanjing, and the west hall was rebuilt into a living shrine to show off his military exploits. When the emperor ordered someone to investigate the matter, Li Hongzhang took refuge for him.
In 1894, Huang Yisheng died at the age of seventy-six. He only had one son, Huang Zongyan (the other two sons died young), in the early years, Huang Yisheng donated a platform for him, and after inheriting the title, he went to Guangxi to serve as Yandao. Before going to work, the family bought a rural woman from his hometown in Changsha to be his concubine, and after he became pregnant, he left him in Nanjing.
Huang Zongyan went to Guangxi to take up his post, but died of miasma in less than a year, and only lived to be 30 years old. After Huang Zongyan's death, the whole family paid attention to his aunt's labor, and in 1896 gave birth to twins of a girl and a boy. The girl is Zhang Ailing's mother Huang Suqiong, also known as Huang Yifan, and the boy is Zhang Ailing's uncle Huang Dingzhu.

Zhang Tingzhong (Zhang Ailing's father) married Huang Suqiong, the granddaughter of Huang Yisheng, the first commander of the Yangtze River Division in the late Qing Dynasty, and the daughter of Huang Zongyan of Yanfa Dao, Guangxi. Later, he felt that the name was not romantic enough, so he changed it to Huang Yifan when he went abroad.
