There is a post in the study abroad information section of the mechbbs forum dedicated to the application process for a study visa in Germany.

Application process for studying in Germany:
1. Material preparation stage.
Applicants for graduate studies in Germany need to prove a range of certificates from primary school to university, depending on the academic qualifications of each student.
II. APS Review Phase.
APS is the Review Department of the Cultural Office of the German Embassy in China (referred to as the APS Department), which is responsible for checking whether the Chinese application meets the admission requirements of German universities and the authenticity of the materials, which generally takes about 3 to 6 months from the preparation of the materials to the preparation of the materials to the audit and obtaining the audit certificate.
3. Applying for a school.
German universities start in April and October every year, and the winter semester in October is the main season for new students, with the application deadline for most institutions starting in October in mid-July, and some institutions in mid-April. The application deadline for most institutions is mid-January for the start of April and mid-November for some institutions, so students should check the application materials and application deadlines for the universities they want to apply to as early as possible.
4. Visa application stage.
The notice of the start of the winter semester is generally issued in August and September of each year, and the notice of the start of the spring semester is issued in February and March of each year. Students can apply for a visa after receiving the notice. The German embassy rarely refuses a visa, and as long as the student can get admission to a German university, the visa is generally approved.

What are the requirements for direct admission to a German public university or a state preparatory course after graduating from high school? Enter the study abroad reference.
DSD high school graduates, if they have passed the DSD1 examination and the college entrance examination score reaches the admission score of 211 universities, they can apply for public preparatory courses in Germany, and after graduating from the preparatory department, they can apply for undergraduate courses in Germany;
DSD high school graduates can apply directly to undergraduate programs in Germany if they have passed the DSD2 exam and the college entrance examination score reaches the admission score of 211 universities.
High school graduates who have obtained an IB diploma can obtain a direct entrance qualification to a German university if certain conditions are met (I will give it in tomorrow's post).
Graduates of the British high school curriculum (A-level) can obtain admission qualifications for relevant majors in German universities if certain conditions are met (I will give it in tomorrow's push).
If I don't meet the above requirements, how can I enter Germany? There are two general options:
Entering a private university in Germany, which is currently relatively small and has limited choice of majors.
After studying in a private preparatory department for one year, you can apply to relevant universities in Germany according to the test results of the preparatory department.
So, what is a team review project? What is the difference between it and an individual trial? (Speaking of which, there will be a lot of content, I will briefly introduce it here, and I will make a separate comparison in the future).
The group review is an interview conducted by a professor from a German university in China instead of the interview of the APS Audit Department. The interview results and materials will be submitted to the APS Audit Department for material review, and after the review is passed, an APS group review certificate will be issued to obtain the qualification to study in Germany.

There are six steps to handing over the signature:
1. Make sure that your study in Germany visa is handled in **
Applicants who go through the APS interview or DES examination process actually pay the money for the signature when they apply for the APS review.
In other words, the APS Review Department is the agency responsible for the submission of the vast majority of Chinese applicants.
APS visa requirements vary for applicants from different provinces and cities, and are divided into five jurisdictions: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenyang.
2. Make an appointment with Termin
3. Prepare the materials for delivery
All Chinese materials must be translated into German. Translations must be accurate and faithful to the original text, but there is no requirement that a translation done by a translation company must be provided.
Do not alter, the materials should be filled in by the computer (except for the payment place) before printing.
Don't show any intention to immigrate, otherwise you may be denied a visa! In particular, for the writing of the motivation letter for studying abroad and the departure time, do not fill in the time too late from the expected graduation time.
4. Go to the audit department on time to hand over the signature
5. Visa review
The APS Review Department is responsible for forwarding the visa application to the visa section of the embassy or consulate, which will forward the application to the Foreigners' Office of your future residence in Germany after the visa application has been processed. The processing time for a visa application is at least 4 weeks after receipt by the Visa Section of the Embassy or Consulate, and in some cases, it may take longer.
6. Send your passport back
If the applicant receives the refusal letter, he or she may file an appeal in writing, i.e., to raise an objection to the refusal. The letter of appeal must be written and signed in German or, if written in Chinese, with a translation. If you lodge an appeal, the German Embassy or Consulate General in Beijing will re-examine your visa application and, if necessary, the competent authorities in Germany will re-examine your application.
The processing process is expected to take several weeks.
