Here is an allusion to "Ziyou Asks Filial Piety". Once, Confucius's student Ziyou asked the teacher what "filial piety" was. Confucius said:
The only filial piety that ordinary people can achieve is to be able to support their parents. However, pets such as cats and dogs are still kept and loved. If there is no submissive and respectful attitude towards parents, then what is used to distinguish filial piety from breeding?
Although the words of Confucius are somewhat contrary, we have to praise the teachings of the sages as being really golden and good. Parents and children live in different eras, and of course their ideological concepts and cultural levels will be different, and the perspective of looking at things will naturally be different. This is something that children should understand.
The happiness we pay attention to includes the common enjoyment of material and spiritual, now most of the children can meet the material consumption of their parents, so the requirements of "filial piety" will be increased accordingly, if you do not obey the wishes of your parents to do things to make them happy, how to meet their spiritual enjoyment? After feeding the kittens and puppies, they also know to give them some string balls and other things to make them happy, are the "mourning parents" who "give birth to me and work hard" not as good as them? In fact, do parents make any undesirable demands on their children?
It's just that the children are unwilling to do it because of all sorts of things. With a little self-control, brothers can achieve "filial piety".
Let's see.
