<> thanks to my friend, the first time I went to Huizhou, I went to the birthplace of ancient Huizhou culture - She County, Anhui Province. Ancient Huizhou originally had six counties under its jurisdiction, but its jurisdiction has undergone many changes and is now divided into Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. For example, Wuyuan, the most famous representative of Huizhou, is actually in Jiangxi Province today.
However, for hundreds of years, She County has been the seat of ancient Huizhou government and the birthplace of Huizhou culture.
We originally planned to go to the ancient village of Huizhou, and at first we wanted to choose a destination among several famous scenic spots such as Wuyuan, Hongcun, and Xidi, but when our friend was searching for a travel guide, we accidentally found that there was an ancient village called Yangchan in She County, so we came so "confused".
Yangchan Ancient Village is located in Shendu Town, She County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, and is an ancient village hidden in the depths of the mountains of southern Anhui. Different from the ancient buildings of Huizhou in everyone's impression of "white walls and Daiwa Matou walls", the houses in Yangchan Village are all tulou made of yellow mud. The mountains are in place, and the rows are lined up one after another, forming a different kind of pastoral beauty.
The village is located on the mountainside more than 800 meters above, and there is a small road into the village, but the road is narrow and steep. Two years ago, we were allowed to drive into the village by car and motorbike, but now we can only park our cars in the parking lot at the bottom of the mountain and take the village shuttle bus up the mountain. However, when self-driving is actually allowed, there are not many tourists who actually drive up the mountain, after all, the mountain road is steep, and it is still very worrying.
You see, even today, when modern transportation has become so convenient, it is not easy to see Yang Property!
The history of Yangchan Ancient Village can be traced back to the Song Dynasty, and legend has it that the ancestors surnamed Zheng moved here from Shebei because of the war, and chose this feng shui treasure land deep in the mountains of southern Anhui, so they settled down here, forming this Taoyuan village hidden in the deep mountains.
The biggest advantage of the remote mountain is that it can retain the original ecological beauty, which is the case in Yangchan Ancient Village. The ancient villages in Huizhou have long become popular scenic spots, and when the tourists are bustling, Yangshan is still a quiet time, just like the appearance of the countryside outside the world. Although there are some travel enthusiasts who are gradually coming here, it is still a small spot.
It is not deserted by tourists, but it is by no means crowded.
The beauty of yang lies in the simple beauty of this original ecology. Original building raw materials - rammed earth into walls, felling wood to build beams, picking bamboo for reinforcement, bluestone paving ......The exterior of the house is also made of original loess color, without any decoration. And these deep loess colors, against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains, form a magnificent artistic conception of beauty.
The comfort, depth, calmness, and indifference of the ancient mountain village poured into your heart through these layers of earthen houses.
When we came, Yang was still very pristine. There are inns and guesthouses opened by local villagers in the village, but the conditions are simple. According to my friends, there are now several B&Bs with better conditions, and there are more tourists than in the previous two years.
However, compared with ancient villages such as Hongcun and Wuyuan, this is still a pristine place. There are no tickets for Yangsan, so if you like it, you might as well take a look as soon as possible.

Yangchan Ancient Village is more primitive than Hong Village and more primitive than Wuyuan, and this ancient village is still relatively low-key.
-
This ancient village is Yangchan Ancient Village. The village has a special architectural style and a pastoral beauty, and the houses have basically not undergone major renovations. At the same time, it has a very long history, and it is a paradise hidden in the mountains.
-
This is Yangchan Ancient Village, which is located in Shendu Town, Huixian County, Anhui Province, due to the inconvenient transportation of this place, it retains the simplicity of the original village to a large extent.
-
The two traditional ancient villages of Xidi and Hongcun still retain to a large extent the appearance of those villages that have disappeared or changed in the last century. The style of its streets, its ancient buildings and decorations, as well as its well-equipped dwellings with a water supply system are very unique cultural relics.

Hongcun is located in the northwest corner of Yixian County, 65 kilometers away from Tunxi and 11 kilometers away from Yixian County. The village was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty, with a history of nearly 1,000 years, and was originally inhabited by the surname Wang. The people of Guhong Village have come out of their own way, opened a precedent of "bionics", planned and built a cow-shaped village and artificial water system that can be called "a unique in China", and looked at the whole village, just like a big buffalo with its head held high, and became a "great wonder in the history of architecture" today.
There are more than 140 well-preserved ancient dwellings of the Ming and Qing dynasties in the whole village. The folk Forbidden City "Chengzhi Hall" is magnificent, which can be described as the most ancient dwelling in southern Anhui. The rows of multi-storey courtyards in the village and the beautiful lakes and mountains complement each other, the movement and stillness are suitable, ethereal and contained, everywhere is the scenery, step into the painting.
From the natural environment outside the village to the water system, streets, buildings, and even the interior layout of the village, the original state of the ancient village is completely preserved, without the slightest sign of modern civilization. Hongcun, with its unique shape and wonderful pastoral scenery, is known as the "village in Chinese painting". Hundreds of ancient dwellings in Hongcun Village are lined up one after another, among which the "Chengzhitang" is the most outstanding, it is built by salt merchants in the Qing Dynasty, covering an area of more than 2,000 square meters, and is a brick and wood structure building.
This room is magnificent, the craftsmanship is fine, the woodcarving on the beams of its main hall, the bucket arch, the flower door, the window lattice, the layers are complex, the characters are numerous, the people are different, the face is not the same god, it can be called the wood carving boutique in the art of the Hui school "three carvings". According to historical records, "Chengzhitang" is the most perfectly preserved ancient dwelling in Yixian County, and domestic and foreign tourists who visit here are all fascinated by it. The water system of Hongcun is designed according to the image of the cow, leading the clear spring as the "cow intestine", which flows in front of the door of a family, so that the villagers "have a clear canal in the door and lane".
After flowing into the moon pond called "cow's stomach" in the village, the "beef intestine" is filtered and then passed around the house and again to the South Lake, which is called "beef tripe" outside the village. Filtered into the riverbed again, such a water system, can be called one of the ancient Chinese village architectural arts, it attracted Japan, the United States, West Germany and other domestic and foreign experts to come and study carefully.

The ancient villages in southern Anhui refer to the ancient villages represented by Xidi and Hongcun in the mountainous area south of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province. It is a historical and traditional village with a common regional cultural background, with strong Huizhou cultural characteristics. The mountainous area of southern Anhui has a long history and profound cultural accumulation, and has preserved a large number of traditional buildings and villages with similar forms and distinctive characteristics.
The ancient villages in southern Anhui are not only cleverly combined with the topography, landform, and landscape, but also coupled with the strong economic strength of the Hui merchants in the Ming and Qing dynasties to support their hometowns, culture and education are increasingly prosperous. The biggest difference between the ancient villages in southern Anhui and other village forms is that the construction and development of ancient villages in southern Anhui are to a considerable extent separated from the dependence on agriculture. In terms of consciousness, lifestyle and taste, the inhabitants of the ancient village greatly surpassed the peasant ideology and the general citizen class, but retained and pursued the same as the literati and the official class, so it has a strong cultural atmosphere.
On the basis of the basic stereotype, the ancient village dwellings in southern Anhui adopt different decoration techniques, build small courtyards, dig pools, place leaky windows, skillfully set up bonsai, carve beams and paint buildings, inscribe orchid plaques, and create an elegant living environment, all of which reflect the high cultural quality and artistic accomplishment of local residents. The site selection and construction of ancient villages in southern Anhui follow the Zhouyi Feng Shui theory with a history of more than 2,000 years, emphasizing the ideal realm of the unity of nature and man and the full respect for the natural environment, focusing on the dual needs of material and spiritual, with a scientific foundation and a high aesthetic concept. The architectural characteristics of the ancient village of southern Anhui - Hui style dwellings were developed with the prosperity of Hui merchants in the Ming and Qing dynasties, which can reflect the exquisite conception and superb craftsmanship to the greatest extent in the limited architectural space, which is really a unique architectural form.
Later, the Hui merchants gradually declined, but the architectural characteristics of this Hui style dwellings were preserved in the ancient dwelling villages, so they have important historical value and architectural value.
