There is a saying here that the seventh consciousness is attached to the eighth consciousness is attached to its "perception", which is a later statement, not in the scriptures, because the four divisions are a theory expounded by later commentators in order to further explain the mind, and the sutras do not explicitly say that attachment is separated, but only that it is attached to the eighth consciousness. In fact, this is relatively easy to understand when you think about it, because the category of "separation" generally corresponds to the seeds of the manifestation of the Dharma, such as mountains, rivers, and the earth, so how can this part of the Dharma be attached to "me" according to the imagination of ordinary people?
The seventh consciousness can also be used as the basis for the first six consciousnesses, and the sixth consciousness is based on the seventh consciousness, and both are turned, and this is easy to understand, because the distinguishing role of the sixth consciousness is first of all to establish a subject that can be separated, and this subject has to fall on the "me" that arises from the attachment of the seventh consciousness, so both are transformed. When the first five consciousnesses come into play, although the activities of seeing, hearing, and so on seem to be indifferent to good and evil in the secular sense, they are also defiled when they are separated by dyeing and purifying, which is because the ego generated by the seventh consciousness has always been the basis for the activities of the first five consciousnesses. The sixth consciousness is the mind, which has the function of knowing abstract concepts. When one of the first five consciousnesses comes into play, consciousness arises at the same time. You know how to do math problems, you know how to cook, you know how to make a good impression on others, etc., these are all sixth senses.
The seventh consciousness, which is the last consciousness, is simply "me", "self-grasping", that is, because of the existence of the seventh consciousness, we begin to distinguish between "me" and "non-self", because of the influence of the seventh consciousness, we will be arrogant, persistent, and so on, and if there is no difference between self and non-self, there will be no ranking, comparison, and so on, because there is no meaning.
For example, one person scores 100 points on the test, and another person scores 50 points. If there is no seventh consciousness, then two people are just two fractions for these two fractions. But with the seventh consciousness, there will be comparisons, some people will be arrogant, and some people will be depressed.

Then the sixth consciousness begins to go through the stage of in-depth cognitive thinking, and the two people fall in love.

The seventh consciousness is the transliteration of Sanskrit manas, which translates as meaning and the meaning of contemplation. If you cling to delusion, you will create all kinds of negative karma, otherwise, you will stop the negative karma of disturbing emotions and thoroughly understand the truth of the emptiness of human law, so it is called the pure cognition, also known as the cognition of contemplation, and the cognition of contemplation can change.
And since its beginninglessness, it is subtly continuous, without external force, and arises naturally, so its nature is 'there is no memory';It does not lead to unripe fruits, but it can cover the holy way and blind the mind. According to the shallowness and depth of the stage of practice, the Dharma Aspect Sect has three neutral positions in the consciousness of Mana, which are called the three persons, namely: (1) the position of the self-seeing position of the Buddha's consciousness (Brahmana pudgala, i.e., the person), and the position of the person-self-seeing position arises for the eighth alayya consciousness of the Buddha's consciousness.
For example, ordinary people, the two vehicles have learned, and the bodhisattvas before the seven places have leaky minds. (2) The Dharma I see the corresponding position, which is the position of the Dharma I see for the eighth different acquaintance of the end of the cognition. This refers to the bodhisattvas of ordinary people, the two vehicles, and those who have not attained the wisdom of the dharma.
3) The corresponding position of egalitarian wisdom is the position of unobstructed egalitarian wisdom, that is, the bodhisattva enters the path of seeing with the view of dharma-emptiness, and then gives rise to the wisdom of dharma-emptiness and the fruit of Buddhahood in the position of monasticism. Among the above three, the first two are leaky, and the third is non-leaky. In the fifth year of the Treatise on Consciousness, the existence of the Buddha Sutra can be proved by citing the two teachings of the Ranga Sutra and the Liberation Sutra, as well as the six truths, which is called the 'Two Teachings and Six Principles'.
The two teachings, namely: (1) entering the nine predicates of the Ranga Sutra, the nature of contemplation, and the meaning of the name. (2) The Sutra of Liberation says that the defilement of the mind is always born and destroyed with all confusions.
The six principles, namely: (1) There is no uncommon and unclear evidence, which means that although the action of the sixth consciousness is interrupted, ordinary people are not uninterrupted and unclear, and there must be no discontinuity. (2) The first five consciousnesses are based on the first five roots, and the first five realms are the causes, and the sixth consciousness must also have the last consciousness as the root of the meaning on which it depends.
3) The meaning of the name, the meaning of the end, because it is a constant examination and consideration, so the knowledge of the end must be eternal. (4) There is a difference between the two definite differences, the extinction of the sage's entry and the non-thinking of the outer path, because the extinction of the extinction is determined by the existence of the end of the consciousness, and the existence of the end of the consciousness is determined by the absence of thought. (5) Cultivating the non-thinking of being born without thinking, although there is no sixth consciousness, there is still self-grasping, so it is necessary to have the consciousness of the end.
6) If I have sentient beings, I will not be able to prove it, and ordinary people who do good things such as generosity will not become infallible and cannot get rid of self-grasping, but because of the knowledge of the end.
