Hosseini's father was a diplomat and his mother was a teacher at a girls' school in Kabul. In 1970, the family was sent with their father to Tehran, Iran, and in 1973, the family moved back to Kabul. In the same year, his mother gave birth to her youngest brother.
This year was the last year for the Afghan regime to maintain stability. The coup d'état and foreign invasion that followed ended Hosseini's beautiful childhood in Afghanistan. In 1976, Hosseini's father found a job in Paris, France, and the family moved to Paris, where they never returned due to the unstable regime in Afghanistan.
When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1980, his father decided to apply for political asylum in the United States, and the family immigrated to San Jose, California. At the beginning, he was financially impoverished and received welfare payments and food stamps from the United States**.
After graduating from high school in 1984, Hosseini applied to Santa Clara University to study biology and attended the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. After obtaining his MD (Medical License) in 1993, he completed his internship at Mount Zion Medical College in Los Angeles, California in 1996. He is currently an internal medicine physician and is married with two children.
His first ** "The Kite Runner" was a great success after it came out, becoming the biggest dark horse in the international literary scene in recent years, winning various newcomer awards, and ranking on the Amazon chart for 131 weeks, selling 60,000 copies worldwide, creating a publishing miracle. Hosseini himself won the United Nations Humanitarian Award in 26 years for his great influence, and was invited to serve as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to promote refugee relief work.
A Thousand Splendid Suns is Hosseini's second book published four years later**, which received great attention before its publication, and was first published in the United States on May 22, 2007, winning unanimous praise from critics, making Hosseini a well-established writer who has been widely recognized as a writer.

1. [2003] The Long ** "The Kite Runner".
The Kite Runner is the first book by Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini and the first in English by an Afghan-American author, published in 2003 and topped the New York Times bestseller list for two consecutive years, selling more than 7 million copies in the U.S. and more than 20 million copies worldwide, and has been translated into 42 languages.
It tells the story of two Afghan teenagers about friendship, family affection, betrayal, and redemption, and not only expresses an indictment of war, but also deeply reflects on the ethnic and religious issues of Afghanistan. The film was widely praised by critics, but it also caused huge controversy in Afghanistan.
2, [2007] long ** "Splendid Thousand Suns".
In A Thousand Suns, Hosseini focuses on Afghan women,** telling the tragic story of two Afghan women who endure the constraints of hunger and sickness. Families have to bear the trauma of war and the displacement of refugees. The country must endure the war between the former Soviet Union, the Taliban and the United States.
This is a history of Afghan patience. ** The clever design of the plot, the skillful use of symbolism and stream of consciousness, in addition to the usual indictment of war, and the cry for women's rights, mark the maturity of Hosseini's work.
3, [2013] long ** "Mountains Singing".
Echo of the Mountains is the third installment by Khaled Hosseini**, which debuted in the United States on May 21, 2013.
tells the story of a brother and sister who have been forged by poverty and war for 60 years. Around parents, siblings, and even cousins and stepmothers, how they love, how they are hurt, how they betray each other, how they sacrifice for each other.
This **form** is similar to a short story ** collection, and the whole ** has a total of nine chapters, each of which is told by nine different characters as the first person to tell the story. Not only does it continue Hosseini's usual sad and warm style, but it also has a richer and more sophisticated technique, which is known as Hosseini's most ambitious one to date.
