Introduction to Zhan Tianyou.
Zhan Tianyou (1861-1919), a native of Poyuan, Jiangxi. He is an outstanding patriotic engineer and railway engineering expert in my country. He has been an avid learner since childhood.
In 1872, 12-year-old Zhan Tianyou was admitted to the first batch of young children to study in the United States. When he was in high school in the United States, he studied natural sciences in anger. In 1878, at the age of 17, Zhan Tianyou was admitted to Yale University in the United States to study civil engineering and railroad, and graduated with honors.
He returned to China in 1881. In 1888, he worked as an engineer for the then China Railway Company. Within 80 days of his first tenure, he completed the task of laying rails on the railway from Tanggu to Tianjin.
Later, the Luanhe Bridge was built. In 1894, the British Engineering Research Society officially accepted Zhan Tianyou as a member. In 1905, the Qing Dynasty appointed Zhan Tianyou as the chief engineer of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway.
In 1919, Zhan Tianyou became ill from hard work and unfortunately died at the age of 58.
Zhan Tianyou is a well-known engineering expert in China. He entered a private school at the age of 8, and because all he learned were the Four Books and Five Classics and the Eight Strands, Zhan Tianyou was bored. He was most interested in new knowledge such as engineering and machinery, kneading trains with mud, making machines, and always carrying pinions, clockwork, screwdrivers, tweezers, etc.
One day, Xiao Tianyou suddenly became interested in his family's alarm clock. He thought: Why can this square thing tick and tick and go non-stop Xiao Tianyou decided to open this treasure box and see the mystery in it.
Disassemble the parts one by one until you can disassemble the entire alarm clock until you can no longer disassemble it. How can a large number of parts be packed as they are Zhan Tianyou relied on his good memory, and actually packed them one by one. He also figured out the structure and principle of the alarm clock.
In 1871, the Qing Dynasty sent Rong Hong, the first graduate of Yale University in China, to be responsible for organizing a preparatory class for young children to study abroad. When 11-year-old Zhan Tianyou heard this, he begged his parents to agree to take the test. Zhan Tianyou said with confidence
Guaranteed success. As soon as the results of the examination were announced, Zhan Tianyou had excellent grades and was among the best and was admitted as the first batch of preparatory students to study abroad.
In 1872, the first batch of 30 students embarked on the journey, and Zhan Tianyou took a ship or train for the first time, and he was very fascinated by these foreign toys. Why can't the Chinese make trains and ships.
In the United States, in order to learn English well, Zhan Tianyou lived in the homes of American citizens. The following year, he was admitted to West Haven Elementary School, graduated from primary school in only three years, and graduated from high school in two years, and was admitted to the Department of Civil Engineering at Yale University, specializing in railway engineering.
In 1881, Zhan Tianyou returned to the embrace of the motherland. 1905 In 1909, he presided over the construction of China's first self-built railway——— Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway.
