Zhang Haidi (September 16, 1955), born in Jinan, is a well-known Chinese writer with a master's degree in philosophy. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, a member of the Chinese Writers Association, and the vice chairman of the Shandong Writers Association. In 1960, Zhang Haidi suffered from spinal hemangioma at the age of five, resulting in high paraplegia, and in 1970, he was sent to Liaocheng Shen County, Shandong Province with his parents, where he completed his primary school, middle school and university studies by himself, and studied acupuncture and moxibustion, and practiced medicine locally.
On July 23, 1982, he married Wang Zuoliang. In 1983, the Chinese Communist Party decided to establish Zhang Haidi as a propaganda idol. Zhang Haidi received two accolades:
