In provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government that do not have the conditions to implement the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the public security organs and judicial administrative departments shall jointly submit opinions and report to the people of the provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government to decide on a specific implementation plan, but the time for compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation in the compulsory isolation centers of the public security organs shall not exceed 12 months.

The period of compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation can be extended by up to one year.

How long does it take to notify the family members of compulsory drug rehabilitationWhere the public security organs decide to give compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation to a drug addict, they shall draft a written decision on compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation, deliver it to the person subject to the decision before carrying out compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation, and notify the family of the person subject to the decision within 24 hours of delivery.

Where the person subject to the decision does not state their real name or address, or their identity is not clearly known, the public security organs shall notify them after verifying their identity.

For those who are seriously addicted to drugs and find it difficult to get rid of drug addiction through the community, the public security organs may directly make a decision to forcibly isolate them for drug rehabilitation.

Drug addicts who are willing to accept compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation may enter a compulsory isolation drug rehabilitation facility for drug rehabilitation with the consent of the public security organs.

According to Article 5 of the Measures for Compulsory Drug Rehabilitation, compulsory drug addiction shall be imposed on persons addicted to drug addiction who need to be sent to compulsory drug rehabilitation centers (hereinafter referred to as drug rehabilitation personnel), and the people's public security organs at the county level shall make a decision. The written decision on compulsory drug rehabilitation shall be handed over to the person before the person receiving treatment of drug addiction enters the center. The decision on compulsory drug rehabilitation shall be made within 3 days from the date of making the decision to notify the family members of the person receiving treatment of drug addiction, the work unit to which he belongs, and the public security police station where his household registration is located.

Article 6 The period of compulsory drug rehabilitation shall be 3 months to 6 months, calculated from the date of admission to the center.

For drug addicts who have not recovered from drug addiction after the expiration of the period of compulsory drug rehabilitation, the compulsory drug rehabilitation center may submit an opinion and report to the public security organ that made the original decision for approval to extend the period of compulsory drug rehabilitation; However, the actual period of compulsory drug rehabilitation shall not exceed one year in a row.
