Rain Alley is Dai Wangshu's famous work, the author through the description of the narrow and gloomy rain alley, the lone wanderer wandering in the rain alley, and the girl who is like a lilac with grievances, implicitly hinting at the author's feelings of both confused sentimentality and expectation, and giving people a hazy and deep sense of beauty.
Text |Dai Wangshu.
Holding an oil-paper umbrella, alone.
Lingering in a long, long.
And lonely rain alley, I hope to meet.
A clove-like.
A girl with a grudge.
She is. The color of cloves, the fragrance of cloves, the sorrow of cloves, grieving in the rain, complaining and hesitating.
She wandered in the lonely rainy alley, holding an oil-paper umbrella.
Like me, like me, walking silently, indifferent, desolate, and melancholy.
She approached silently.
Approached, cast again.
She floated by with a breath-like gaze.
It's like a dream.
It's like a dream.
It's like floating in a dream.
A lilac field, beside me, floated past the girl;
She quietly went away, far away, to the crumbling hedge, and walked through the rainy alley.
In the lamentation of the rain, her color was dissipated, her fragrance was scattered, and even hers was dissipated.
The eyes of the breath, the melancholy of the lilacs.
Holding an oil-paper umbrella, alone.
Lingering in a long, long.
It's lonely again'Rain alley, I hope to float by.
A clove-like.
A girl with a grudge.
Symbolic meaning of the Lilac Girl:
1. It is the tradition of the ancients to use flowers as a metaphor for people. Cloves are traditional imagery. The lilac in the ancient poem is the embodiment of grievance. Dai Wangshu's cloves highlight their fragrance and color, thus becoming synonymous with beauty.
2. The lilac girl is beautiful, noble, ethereal, and complaining, symbolizing the poet's pursuit of ideals and beliefs in life, and can even symbolize all beautiful things worth pursuing, or it can be said to symbolize beautiful things but empty and easily disillusioned. The polysemy of the imagery determines the ambiguity of the theme, which is characteristic of modernist poetry.
Emotion: Sad, grief, confused and full of anticipation.
Theme: Composed in 1927, it uses symbolic imagery to create an artistic conception, expressing the author's wandering, confused, sentimental and painful emotions when he cannot find the future of the revolution.
"Rain Alley" Dai Wangshu

"Rain Alley" is Dai Wangshu's famous work and early masterpiece, and he has won the nickname of "Rain Alley Poet" because of this. The poem was written in the summer of 1927. At that time, the whole country was in the midst of the White Terror, and Dai Wangshu had to take refuge in the homes of his friends in Songjiang because he had participated in progressive activities, chewing on the disillusionment and pain after the defeat of the Great Revolution in loneliness, and his heart was always full of confused emotions and hazy hopes.
The poem "Rain Alley" is an expression of his mood, which is intertwined with the dual moods of disappointment and hope, disillusionment and pursuit. This sentiment was somewhat common at the time. "Rain Alley" uses symbolic lyricism.
The narrow and gloomy rainy alley in the poem, the lone wanderer wandering in the rainy alley, and the girl with a grievance like a lilac are all symbolic images. They are metaphors for the dark society of the time, the people who failed in the revolution and the hazy hope that comes and goes. Together, these images form a symbolic artistic conception, implicitly hinting at the author's feelings of confusion, sentimentality and expectation, and giving people a hazy and deep sense of beauty.
She is beautiful, noble, ethereal, and mournful, symbolizing the poet's belief and pursuit of ideals, life and beautiful things, as well as expressing emptiness, disillusionment and emotion.

The strong homesickness and the faint nostalgia tug at the heartstrings of the reader. His essay "Listen to the Cold Rain" expresses a deep homesickness, which is mainly flowing through the description of the sound of the rain, using the cold rain lyricism to express his homesickness in Taiwan and unable to return to the mainland for reunion, but on the other hand, this nostalgia is also expressed in the poems he uses in the text, and the interest of classical Chinese poetry is more vividly expressed in the cold rain that is given life.
