We're gathered in this university known for its intellectual curiosity, this city known for its progress, this country known for its strength. We all need all three of these things, because we are all in a time of change and challenge, of a time of hope and fear, of both erudition and ignorance. The more we know, the more our ignorance is exposed.
While the rare majority of world-renowned scientists are still alive today, and while the country's scientific and technological power doubles every 12 years at a rate three times the rate of the nation's population growth, the unknown, unanswered, and unfinished field still far exceeds all of our understanding.
Our forefathers ensured that this country was a pioneer in the wave of the Industrial Revolution, the invention of modernization, and the atomic energy. Our generation does not want to be left behind in the coming space age. We want to be part of the times - we want to be the leaders of the times.
Now the world's eyes are turned to space, to the moon and to the planets of outer space. We vow to let the banner of freedom and peace, not malicious conquest, dominate space. We vow to fill space with knowledge and understanding, not mass destruction**.
Many years ago, someone asked George, an explorer of the British Empire. Why did Mallory go to the Himalayas. He said, because it's there.
George later died in the process of climbing.
So, space is there, and we're going to conquer it. The moon and the planets are there, and the emerging hope for knowledge and peace is there. So as we set sail, we pray that God will bless this most dangerous, adventurous, and greatest journey in human history.

We finally met the university with knowledge, advanced in a famous city, and the state with strength, standing in need of all three, as we met in an hour of change and challenge, in a decade of hope and fear, in an era of knowledge and ignorance. The greater we get, the more knowledge we get, the more ignorance we get. Despite the remarkable fact that the majority of scientists are still struggling with the world as far as they know, despite the fact that the scientific strength of our country is doubling at a rate of more than three times every 12 years, beyond that, this vast unknown, unanswered, and unfinished is far beyond the comprehension of all of us.
Those who came before us this country has made a certain ride on the first wave of the industrial revolution, the first wave of modern innovation and the first nuclear power, the founders of this generation did not intend to come in space in the era of great rebounce shock. We mean part of it – we mean to channel it. For the eyes of the whole world to look into space, to the moon and the planets beyond, and we have sworn that we will not see it by the banner of conquest of the hostile flag, but the preciousness of freedom and peace.
We have sworn that we will never again see space full of mass destruction**, but the knowledge and understanding of instruments.
Many years ago, the great British explorer George saw Marorry, who was dying on Mount Everey, and was asked why he climbed it. "Because it's there," he said. Well, space is there, and we're about to travel there, with the moon and other planets there, gaining new hope for knowledge and peace.
Therefore, when we sail we begin with God's blessing in the most dangerous, but also dangerous and greatest adventure ever human beings have ever had.
