Zilaiqiao is located in the mountains about 40 kilometers southeast of Mingguang City, bordering Chuzhou City, Lai'an County and Xuyi County in Jiangsu. Legend has it that Yang Liulang and Li Kaifang of the Yang Family Army of the Northern Song Dynasty led the Taiping Army to the Northern Expedition and stationed here.
After the defeat of the Taiping army, General Miao, under Hong Xiuquan, also set up camp here and occupied the mountain as king. In the spring of 1940, the Communist Party of China established Jiashan County to resist the Japanese, and the county was located in Zilaiqiao Town, and the first county magistrate Wang Daohan was established. Although Zilaiqiao is a small mountain market town, its geographical location determines its thousand-year history.
Next to the town there is a clear water river that is not wide but not too narrow. In the dry season, the river is shallow, and passers-by on both sides of the river have to take off their shoes and roll up their pants to wade through the water; In the rainy season, the water is deep, and it is very inconvenient for pedestrians and businessmen to take a long detour. In the early years, a wooden bridge was also built over the river, but it was not used, and there was a big flood, and the flood came down and washed away.
