Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Nature Reserves

Article 11. Nature reserves are divided into national nature reserves and local nature reserves.

Nature reserves that are of typical significance at home and abroad, have a major international impact on science, or have special scientific research value, are listed as national nature reserves.

In addition to those listed as national nature reserves, other nature reserves with typical significance or important scientific research value are listed as local nature reserves. Local-level nature reserves may be managed at different levels, and the specific measures shall be carried out by the administrative departments of the relevant nature reserves or the people of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government according to the actual situation.

1. Beijing Songshan National Nature Reserve: Located at the southern foot of Haituo Mountain in Yanqing County, Beijing, in the Jundu Mountain of Yanshan Mountains, with a total area of 4,671 hectares, it is 90 kilometers away from Beijing city and 25 kilometers away from Yanqing County. It is bordered by Huailai County and Chicheng County of Hebei Province to the west and north, and Foyukou and Shuiyu villages of Zhangshanying Town, Yanqing County to the east and south.

2. Tianjin Ancient Coast and Wetland National Nature Reserve: Located in the coastal area of Tianjin, with a total area of 35,913 hectares, it was established with the approval of the people of Tianjin in 1984 and promoted to the national level in 1992. The main objects of protection are shell embankments, oyster beach ancient coastal relics and coastal wetlands.

3. Hebei Changli ** Coastal National Nature Reserve: Located in the northeast of Hebei Province, Qinhuangdao City, Zhengshichangli County, along the coast, with an area of 300 square kilometers, it is divided into two parts: land area and sea area, of which the land area is square kilometers and the sea area is part of the square kilometers. The main objects of protection of the reserve are the natural landscape of the sandy coast composed of sand dunes, sand banks, lagoons, forest belts and marine organisms, as well as the ecological environment and natural resources of the sea area where they are located.

4. Shanxi Luyashan National Nature Reserve: Located at the northern end of the Luliang Mountains in Shanxi Province, at the junction of Ningwu County, Wuzhai County and Qilan County, it is a comprehensive nature reserve focusing on protecting forest ecosystems and resistant to rare animals such as brown pheasants. In 1997, it was approved as a national nature reserve.

The reserve is not only a concentrated distribution area of brown pheasant, but also one of the most intact and concentrated distribution areas of the remaining natural secondary forests in the warm temperate zone of China, with a large area of deciduous forest and a large area of spruce forest in North China.

5. Inner Mongolia Saihan Wula National Nature Reserve: It is located in the north of Bahrain Right Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, with geographical coordinates of 118°18 -118°55 east longitude and 43°59 -44°27 north latitude. The total area of the reserve is 10,000 hectares.

The area was founded in 1997 and was promoted to a national nature reserve in 2000. Saihanwula National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia is a comprehensive nature reserve focusing on the protection of rare and endangered wild animals and plants and their diverse ecosystems such as forests, grasslands and wetlands.
