The company is based on the first pithead thermal power plant built in 1958 after the establishment of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region - Guodian Shizuishan Power Plant, after seven phases of expansion, and is currently "two companies and one factory".

Guodian Shizuishan Power Plant (now internally known as Guodian Shizuishan Power Generation Company, which is composed of two independent economic entities, namely Guodian Ningxia Shizuishan Power Generation Co., Ltd. and Guodian Shizuishan First Power Generation) was established in 1958 and is located on the west bank of the Yellow River in Hebin Industrial Park, Huinong District, Shizuishan City, Ningxia.
