There is no provision for the elimination of China III vehicles in 2018. It depends on what kind of car, and different types of cars have different scrapping years.

The service life of each type of motor vehicle is as follows:

1) 8 years for small and micro taxi passenger cars, 10 years for medium-sized taxi passenger cars, and 12 years for large taxi passenger cars;

2) Lease passenger vehicles for 15 years;

3) 10 years for small coach passenger cars, 12 years for medium coach passenger cars, and 15 years for large coach passenger cars;

4) 13 years of use of public transport passenger vehicles;

5) 10 years for other small and micro passenger vehicles, and 15 years for large and medium-sized passenger vehicles;

6) 15 years of use of special school buses;

7) Large and medium-sized non-operating passenger vehicles (except large cars) for 20 years;

8) Three-wheeled vehicles, low-speed trucks equipped with single-cylinder engines for 9 years, low-speed trucks equipped with multi-cylinder engines and mini-trucks for 12 years, dangerous goods transport trucks for 10 years, and other trucks (including semi-trailer tractors and full-trailer tractors) for 15 years;

9) 15 years for special operation vehicles with cargo carrying function, and 30 years for special operation vehicles without cargo carrying function;

10) 10 years for full trailers and dangerous goods transport semi-trailers, 20 years for container semi-trailers, and 15 years for other semi-trailers;

11) 12 years for three-wheeled motorcycles and 13 years for other motorcycles.

For small and micro rental passenger cars (except pure electric vehicles) and motorcycles, the relevant departments of the people of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government may formulate regulations that are stricter than the above-mentioned service life in combination with the actual local situation, but small and micro rental passenger cars shall not be less than 6 years, three-wheeled motorcycles shall not be less than 10 years, and other motorcycles shall not be less than 11 years.

There is no service life limit for small and micro non-operating passenger vehicles, large non-operating cars, and wheeled special mechanical vehicles.

The starting date of the service life of the motor vehicle shall be calculated according to the date of registration, but if the registration procedures have not been completed for more than 2 years from the date of manufacture, it shall be calculated according to the date of manufacture.

Provisions on Compulsory Scrapping Standards for Motor Vehicles
