As of 2022, the excavation project of Zhang Xianzhong's cultural relics has ended, and the relevant results will be announced after the cleanup and research. The underwater archaeological excavation of the Shenyin site at the mouth of the Pengshan River has only gone through more than two months, and tens of thousands of cultural relics have been revealed. Gao Dalun, president of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, said that after more than two months of underwater archaeology, more than 10,000 cultural relics were unearthed at the site.

A record of Zhang Xianzhong's treasure

However, due to the lack of official historical records, there has been a long-term controversy in the historiography circles about whether and where the Jiangkou Shenyin exists and where the specific location is.

This sentence is about the last years of the Ming Dynasty, where Zhang Xianzhong's treasure was buried. But now archaeologists have found some clues that confirm the existence of this Zhang Xianzhong treasure.

Zhang Xianzhong was one of the heroes in the last years of the Ming Dynasty, known as the Eight Great Kings, and this person established the Daxi regime in Wuchang, and later ran to Sichuan to continue to resist the Qing army. So how much money is Zhang Xianzhong's treasure? According to historical records, although Zhang Xianzhong was not as powerful as Li Zicheng in the war, he was still very good at making money, and in the process of occupying Hubei and Sichuan, every place he went to, it was bound to rob the rich and big landlords, and after several years of accumulation, there were at least tens of millions of ****.

Under the blow of the Qing army, Zhang Xianzhong was defeated and retreated, and when he evacuated Chengdu, he did not have time to bring the treasure, so he could only bury it on the spot, it is said that the location was buried in Pengshan, Chengdu, and for hundreds of years after that, many people in the Pengshan area were studying this riddle in order to find the treasure. But hundreds of years have passed, and there is still no news. Therefore, many people wonder if this treasure really exists.

But now, Zhang Xianzhong's treasure has been identified as existing, and at the end of 2015, Li Ji, a famous archaeological expert, announced at the archaeological symposium that Zhang Xianzhong's treasure in Pengshan was confirmed to exist, making a major breakthrough. Why this surprising conclusion?

The main reason is that in the investigation of the previous tomb robbery case, it has been found that the tomb robbers have found this treasure, because many of the cultural relics they have flowed out of the stool have the mark of the Onishi era on them. In history, only Zhang Xianzhong used the name of Onishi, and found a lot of Onishi silver ingots, Zhang Xianzhong's gold seals and other objects. Therefore, these clues can at least show that Zhang Xianzhong's treasure does exist.
