There are many records in the historical books of the Ejina River, and there is also such a record in the "Ejina Banner Chronicles" compiled by today: "The Ejina River flows 250 kilometers in the flag realm, the average river width is about 150 meters, the normal water level is about 150 meters, the average flow is between 200 and 300 cubic meters per second, and there are 19 branches on the delta oasis from south to north....The aftermath flows into the East (Subonaoer), West (Kashun Naoer) Juyan Sea and Jingstu Lake".
The Heihe River flows about 270 kilometers into Ejinaqi. The east and west Juyan Sea are 80 kilometers apart, forming the Ejina Delta.
Historically, the Ejina Delta was an oasis of abundant water and grass and herds of alpacas. In ancient times, the Ejina River has abundant water, abundant water and grass in the basin, suitable for agriculture and animal husbandry, it is an oasis on the edge of the Badain Jaran Desert, a narrow passage between the Badain Jaran Desert and the Great Gobi, and it is the only way for the "Silk Road" of the Hexi Corridor to go to Mobei, and the geographical location is very important. Rulers of successive dynasties have set up fortresses here to protect security and control.
The Han Dynasty established Juyansai here, and set up Juyan Duwei to guard the Ejina River Basin; During the Sui and Tang dynasties, after the Turks controlled this area, they grazed here; During the Song Dynasty, the Western Xia established the city of Heishui, which once became the political, economic, and cultural center of the Western Xia, and when the Mongol Khanate attacked the Western Xia, it marched from here many times; The Yuan Dynasty set up here in Yiji Nailu, and fought many bloody battles with the Ming army in the Northern Yuan Dynasty (the early years of the Ming Dynasty) for control of this river basin. "Ejina" is the phonetic transliteration of the party language "Yiji Nai", which means black water or black river. However, in the late Qing Dynasty, when He Qiutao annotated the "Mongolian Nomadic Chronicles" written by Zhang Mu of the Qing Dynasty, he quoted Mr. Xu Xingbo as saying that "Ejina is Mongolian, and the meaning is faint." In ancient times, the Ejina River was called weak water or ginger valley water.
The Ejina River is the second largest inland river in China, with a total length of 821 kilometers in its main stream. It flows through Qinghai Province, Gansu Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The upper reaches are called Qianggu Water and Obo River (weak water in ancient times, Mongolian "land of ancestors"), flowing in Zhangye area of Gansu; When it flowed to the Jiuquan area, it was renamed weak water; When he entered the Alxa League, he called the Eji Jina River.
The Ejina River originates in the Qilian Mountains, flows southeast from the southern slope of the Qilian Mountains through Qilian County and joins the Babao River (also known as the Obo River), passes through the Qilian Mountains to the northwest, enters the Zhangye Oasis from the Yingluo Gorge, flows through the Zhengyi Gorge into the Ejina Banner Oasis in Inner Mongolia, and finally flows into Sugunaoer and Gashunnaoer. The Ejina River divides the whole basin into upper, middle and lower reaches with Yingluo Gorge and Zhengyi Gorge. 1. After 37-40 years, the total water resources of the Heihe River Basin will be seriously insufficient and the ecology will deteriorate due to excessive water consumption in the middle reaches.
In the 1990s, the Caotanzhuang Water Diversion Project was built in the middle reaches, and the water of the Ejina River was introduced from the two major irrigation canals in the east and west to the flood platform in the south of Zhangye for irrigation of farmland, resulting in a sharp decrease in the amount of water in the downstream, all lakes dried up, spring water disappeared, underground water was destroyed, grassland degradation and desertification were accelerated, and sandstorms occurred frequently.
The Ejina Banner is in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and is a banner under the jurisdiction of the Alxa League. >>>More
