The current situation of Tsinghua University is as follows:

Tsinghua University is a comprehensive, research-oriented, and open world-class university, and liberal arts play an indispensable and important role. In the overall development of Tsinghua University, the guiding ideology of accelerating the development of liberal arts was proposed. The Faculty of Humanities strives to focus on Tsinghua University's position in the country and the overall goal of building a world-class university in Chuan Lingliang.

To adapt to the economic construction and social progress of the new century, Wang Zao's requirements for personnel training and humanities and scholarship; Follow the academic paradigm of "integration of ancient and modern, integration of Chinese and Western, penetration of arts and sciences, and comprehensive innovation", lay a good foundation, highlight application, pay attention to intersection, and form characteristics; In accordance with the principle of "doing something, not doing something", the construction of disciplines should be carried out in stages in a focused manner.

The majors of the School of Learning and Transportation involve literature, history, philosophy and other liberal arts disciplines. There are 6 first-level disciplines with the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees, and 1 discipline with the right to confer master's professional degrees; 4 undergraduate majors: Humanities Experimental Class (including Chinese Language and Literature, History, and Philosophy), English Major, Japanese Major, and Chinese Language and Literature Major.

Campus Environment:

The campus is full of green grass and trees, and buildings from different periods form a complex of buildings with different styles. By the end of 2010, there were 45,000 trees, 200,000 shrubs, 87,000 bamboos, 44,000 perennial flowers, 274,000 color blocks, and 240 ancient trees over 100 years old.

There are 1,210 species of trees on campus, and the green area of the whole school is more than 1.35 million square meters, with a green coverage rate of 54.8%. The campus has complete teaching facilities and convenient living conditions. The newly built Bauhinia Student Apartment covers an area of about 28.6 hectares, with a total construction area of about 370,000 square meters, and is equipped with complete supporting services such as supermarkets, banks, and post offices in the area.

It can meet the daily learning and living needs of the majority of students; The 19 canteens and restaurants on the campus provide high-quality catering services for more than 50,000 teachers, students and employees, among which the "Bauhinia Garden", with a construction area of 130,000 square meters, is the largest student restaurant in domestic universities, which can accommodate more than 3,000 people at the same time.

Tsinghua Academy, the predecessor of Tsinghua University, was founded in 1911 and renamed Tsinghua School in 1912. In 1928, it was renamed National Tsing Hua University. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937, he moved south to Changsha and established the National Changsha Provisional University with Peking University and Nankai University, and moved to Kunming in 1938 and renamed the National Southwest Associated University.

In 1946, it moved back to Tsinghua Garden. It has cultivated outstanding alumni such as Liang Sicheng, Yang Jiang, and Yang Liwei. As of 2022, Tsinghua University ranks No. 1 in the 2022 Ranking of Chinese Universities. It is ranked 14th in the QS World University Rankings 2023.

Tsinghua University's School of Humanities is located in Xinzhai of Tsinghua University in Haidian District, Beijing (as shown in the picture below), next to the West Playground, north of the new library, next to the 10,000-person canteen.

The School of Humanities of Tsinghua University was officially established on October 20, 2012, including the Department of Chinese, the Department of History, the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Foreign Languages, the Institute of Chinese Studies, the Center for Research and Conservation of Unearthed Documents, and other departments and centers. The history of the School of Humanities at Tsinghua University can be traced back to the establishment of the Tsinghua University Research Institute in 1925. In 1928, Tsinghua University established the School of Liberal Arts, and a number of famous scholars such as Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao, Chen Yinke, and Zhao Yuanren, the four major tutors of Chinese studies, gathered in Tsinghua Park.

In 1952, the faculties were adjusted, and the schools of literature and law were transferred out of Tsinghua University. After 1978, Tsinghua University re-established the liberal arts and established the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1993. In 2012, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was abolished and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were established respectively.

At present, the college has 12 doctoral degree programs, 32 master's degree programs, 5 undergraduate majors, 1 postdoctoral mobile station, and 1 key discipline in Beijing: Marxist theory and ideological and political education. There are 59 doctoral supervisors and about 120 master's supervisors in the school.

At present, there are 299 teaching staff, including 99 professors, 114 associate professors and 61 lecturers. There are 1,425 students, including 485 undergraduates and 264 international students (undergraduates). There are 471 master's students and 205 doctoral students, including more than 50 international students (graduate students).

At present, the college has 6 departments, 5 institutes and 4 centers (see the list of college institutions for details), as well as more than 10 interdisciplinary research institutions such as the Humanities Academic Research Center, the Center for Contemporary China Studies, the Center for Advanced Studies and the Center for Language Studies Publication tasks for core journals such as Chinese Journal of International Politics (SSCI). From 2000 to 2005, the college undertook a total of 360 scientific research projects, including 70 national scientific research projects and 122 provincial and ministerial projects, and won more than 200 awards. He has published 2,970 articles and translated 589 monographs. The school also actively carries out academic cooperation and exchange activities at home and abroad, and has a wide range of academic exchanges and cooperation projects with North America, Europe, Russia, Japan, South Korea and other countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and has organized more than 50 international academic conferences in the past five years.

In order to meet the needs of the society, the college has a training department to carry out continuing education and training for academic and non-academic qualifications. Every year, the college is entrusted by national ministries and commissions, local governments, enterprises and institutions to hold dozens of postgraduate courses, advanced seminars and training courses inside and outside the school, with more than 1,000 people educated.
