Generally speaking, the water is soft and hard, that is, the number of minerals in it is divided, hard water is not suitable for raising the vast majority of aquatic turtles, and the hardness of the water mainly depends on the local geological conditions, for example, my friend in Shaanxi said that he used tap water to raise fish and raise a few dead ones, and I used the Pearl River tap water in Guangzhou to raise water turtles directly. A powerful filtration system can effectively filter impurities in the water body, such as turtle feces and food debris, which is the physical part of the filtration system. The impurities adsorbed on the filter media become a suitable breeding ground for the growth of nitrifying bacteria, which decompose ammonia in the water, which is the biological filtration part of the filtration system. The water quality is stable and suitable for the growth of the turtle, and all you need to do is add water to it (the water will evaporate), and a small amount of new water will not have any negative effect on the already stable water body.

It is recommended to make a bottom water inlet structure with the same journey, with a slightly larger filter box, the power of the water pump is determined according to the size of your actual water body, and the hourly flow rate should be about ten times the size of the water body, which is ten times the circulation within an hour. All of my turtle tanks are now on the same trip, and the longest time I don't change the water for a year, the turtles never have any problems, and even the white striped fish that are difficult to feed (the kind of slender fish that swim quickly in schools in the water) are alive very well.

The most common situation is that within a month of opening the tank, especially the larger the fish tank, the more obvious this situation is. Because at this time, the fish tank is larger, so it has a larger body of water, so it takes longer for the water quality to stabilize.

In this case, if we want to make the water clear faster, what we need to do is to stack more filter media in the filter tank of the fish tank. And 80% of these filter materials should be biochemical filter materials, that is, bacterial houses, ceramic rings, biochemical rings, biochemical filter materials are mainly used to cultivate nitrifying bacteria. Nitrifying bacteria are mainly to purify ammonia, nitrite in the water quality, and nitrate, which are toxic substances that have a greater impact on ornamental fish.

Secondly, if you want to make the water turbid, it is not enough to have these biochemical filter materials, because ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are colorless when dissolved in water. Therefore, their content is large, and it will not make the water look turbid, mainly because there are more suspended particles in it, and at this time, you need to use some white cotton or biochemical cotton to help filter. Therefore, there should be 20% of the space in the fish tank for these biochemical cotton and white cotton for physical filtration, mainly to filter out these suspended particles with hail lines.
