    The Japan Arithmetic Olympiad was founded in 1992 by Mr. Heisuke Hironaka, an internationally renowned mathematician and winner of the Fields Medal and the International Order of Culture, chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Mathematical Sciences.     3. Competition format.
