There is a myth and legend about the origin of the Yaowang Temple in Anguo. According to legend, the king of Song Qin got sick, and he was not cured for a long time, Pi Tong appeared **, and the king of Song Qin asked his name and told him that "outsiders at the south gate of Qizhou are also", "send the envoy to the place, and know that it is a god", so he built a temple to worship the king. In the first year of the Northern Song Dynasty (1101 AD), Pi Tong was posthumously crowned as the marquis, and later changed to the title of Gong, and in the sixth year of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty (1270 AD), he was crowned as the "King of Ming Ling Zhaohui Xian".
With the emperor's continuous conferral of Pi Tong, the influence of the "Medicine King" is increasing. The establishment of Yaowang Temple reflects the nostalgia of later generations for Pi Tong, who is virtuous to the people. Since the temple was set up for Pi Tong, the general public has turned to the king of medicine when they are sick, good men and women, often come to the incense, and the medicine practitioners take the opportunity to sell medicine, so that the temple fair of medicinal materials on April 28 of the lunar calendar has gradually formed, which has not faded for hundreds of years, so that there is a saying that "the grass becomes a medicine to Anguo, and the medicine goes to Qizhou to grow incense".

In the early days, in order to worship the Bodhisattva of the Medicine King, people piled up a gravel Bodhisattva on the top of this mountain, and piled up a "wheel pile" composed of broken stones and inserted prayer flags on the top of this mountain. And the medicine king Bodhisattva mentioned by the Tibetans is probably the Manjushri Bodhisattva worshiped by the Han people. Because Manjushri also specializes in medicine and relieves the suffering of diseases for the people.
Otherwise, why would the legendary Yaowang Mountain become the sacred mountain where Manjushri left his feet? If you accompany the pilgrims from the alley on the east side of the "Jiao Bu Ri" into the order of worshipping the sacred mountain, the swaggering in the wind at the mouth of the alley, the dazzling color of the prayer flags make you feel fascinated, you can see that at the foot of the cliff, amateur folk carving masters, wandering artists are devotedly carved on the schist of the plot of Buddha and gods with different images of stone statues and six-character scriptures. Occasionally, a pilgrim donates some money in exchange for a stone carving, but instead of bringing it back to be enshrined in the Buddhist shrine in his sutra hall, in front of the ever-bright lamp, or as a pilgrimage souvenir or tourist souvenir as a treasure, the Lord respectfully placed it on the slope of the sacred mountain.
This is a pilgrimage custom that has been passed down for many generations. On the one hand, it is the alms of the pilgrims to the craftsmen who make a living from it; The second is to worship and pray for this sacred mountain from the bottom of my heart! Legend has it that most of these craftsmen are folk carvers who make a living from this, but some of them did not make a living from this before, but only created a bad karma at a certain stage of their lives, and came to the foot of the sacred mountain to practice this "good karma" in order to atone for their sins to the gods.
When you are about to reach the end of this deep alley where folk craftsmen gather, you will see the Chara Lufu Grottoes, which are located on the southeastern slope of Yaowang Mountain. The grotto stands against the mountain, and the entrance of the cave faces the direction of sunrise, and the Jokhang Temple with the gate facing the Pure Land to the west is far away. The plane of the cave is irregular and rectangular, and the space between the central pillar and the cave wall is narrow, allowing only one person to pass through, but the pilgrims must enter the cave and make a clockwise pilgrimage according to the religious rituals.
The frog at the bottom of the well, the legend of the green silk well, the legend of the white sand well.
It should be, because it is not yet possible to determine exactly where it happened. It is generally believed that it occurred in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, but there are nearly a dozen counties and cities across the country vying for the title of the birthplace of the so-called "Liang Zhu". Now there is another theory that it happened in the hometown of Confucius and Mencius in the Han Dynasty, because many Han Dynasty tombs were unearthed from the tomb of Liang Zhu. >>>More
